Bennett: Tea Party Primary Challenge Is “Ludicrous”

Monmouth County Republican Chairman John Bennett said that “it is ludicrous to me that these individuals are being challenged” in the primary.  Bennett was speaking to MoreMonmoutMusings about the primary challenges to his 13th legislative team of Senator Joe Kyrillos, Assembly members Amy Handlin and Declan O’Scanlon, as well as Sheriff Shaun Golden and Freeholders Tom Arnone and Serena DiMaso.

“I have no idea what their agenda is,” Bennett said of the Bayshore Tea Party Group and their slate of candidates who filed to challenge the incumbents today,” our candidates are doing great jobs and are conservatives.”

“We will treat this challenge like any other election against our good, strong incumbents and return these good people to office with every resource at our disposal.”

when you were speaking to the Chairman did you find out if he is going to ask Director Gonzalez to step down, as she is running candidates against the party slate?

    http://www.politickernj.com/64355/cape-may-gop-chairman-donohue-defends-conventions-process

“Cape May County GOP Chairman Michael Donohue defended the convention process that last month catapulted his candidate, Susan Adelizzi-Schmidt, past Downe Mayor Bob Campbell.

He said from the start he was going to run in the Republican Primary regardless of the outcome of the convention,” Donohue said. “It’s pretty simple to trash the process, but the fact is that by so doing he insulted every Republican committee person who participated. It’s absurd.”

    Sound familiar, Babs?

So, another loose cannon candidate who doesn’t respect the system.

Here’ it’s worse with a Monmouth County GOP Director slapping the Chair in the face and seemingly getting away with it.

Mr. Chairman-didn’t the Bayshore Tea Party help you get elected as chairman??? Didn’t BG take credit for your victory??? Tell me I’m wrong.

  8. Nothing like a little intrigue said at 10:46 pm on April 1st, 2013:

to make some incumbents a bit nervous. At least the GOP shows a pulse. Don’t know what the point really is, but methinks it’ll mostly turn out to be a tempest in a TEApot.

  9. Politicalpony said at 10:47 pm on April 1st, 2013:

    “respect the system” Really?
I ask, what system? The back room cigar smoking deal making system? Yea, don’t you think it’s time to change that process? A more open process where the Good Ole Boys club doesn’t steer the rest of the citizens in a direction they feel as a small group should have all control over? Win lose or draw my friends, it’s time to shake things up. Make the citizens of this state more aware of the trap the Grand Ole Party has lead them into.

Lets talk about these so called conservatives. First question, what have any of them done to improve our state? I mean really made a difference by introducing some legislation and pushing it to bring down our debt. Tell which one of them have introduced legislation that would repeal some of the unconstitutional laws that have been laid on the people of this state for decades. Please, name something. Don’t bother with frivolous nonsense, I’m talking about real legislation, constitutional law.

With all due respect to Kyrillios, he couldn’t find his way around in the Declaration of Independence never mind a useful discussion concerning the US Constitution. His idea of the 2nd Amendment is giving us the people permission to go hunt and fish “lol” Yes, that’s me laughing at such a notion.

ASW Handlin, nice woman, sure she means well. Sure, I’ll admit she is as fiscally conservative as you will find in this Assembly. But that’s it. She is by no means a socially conservative representative. She co-sponsors some really ridiculous Bills that make no sense in terms of law and constitutionality. It’s all by feel good notions generally. She eve so much as co-sponsored a ridiculous Gun Bill. That is until she felt the heat from her constituents and removed her name from it. I’m inclined to believe she removed her name knowing that the Bill would pass with or with out her and she’s trying to save herself and her seat this coming election.

As for O’Scanlon, I’ll remain silent because I haven’t paid enough attention to what he has done in the past to make a comment.

Bennett said “I have no idea what their agenda is,”
Tell him to come on in here and he can see some of the reasons this is taking place.

I ask, what has the GOP done for us lately? We have Christie sucking up to Obama for Sandy relief money and that helped to get us 4 more years of Obama. The GOP during the 2010 and 2012 elections not only didn’t help but hurt Tea Party candidates that won primaries causing the 2010 defeat in the US Senate. Yes that can’t be blamed on anyone but the GOP. Like wise they once again hurt candidates in the last election. I have heard of animals that eat their young. Ad the GOP to that list. Here is another list you can ad them to if they keep up their selfish nonsense and continue their abusive control over the so called system. That list is the extinct list. They better start learning fast, that without the most conservative branch of their party, they will over time become absolutely meaningless in the process.

Fortunately real conservatives have a chance to elect a Tea Party Approved and Constitutionally Certified GOP candidate for Governor, Seth Grossman. Seth will clear the cobwebs spawned by RINO hacks so that once again the GOP will become the Party Of Principle like it was when Ronald Reagan was President. I hope Seth will be on the same line as the other Tea Party candidates so that together they will wipe that grin off the face of RINO hacks like John Bennett.

  11. Amy Handlin should go! said at 12:04 am on April 2nd, 2013:

If anyone should have a primary it’s Amy Handlin! Not O’Scanlon who is a real conservative and Kyrillios who is a great guy and is someone who can be worked with!

SO, WHAT PONY CRAP IS SAYING IS THAT…

The Chairman have some sort of mind control tool that makes everyone vote in a free and open convention for the Chairman’s candidate.

DO YOU READ WHAT YOU JUST WROTE?

The reason Babs and crew wouldn’t bring their candidates to the convention is that they know full well that the county committee people will vote with common sense in mind…

Desiring candidates that can win in November, RATHER THAN poorly chosen, ill experienced and unprepared candidates that will lose to Democrats in the fall.

UNTIL this loser of a Tea Party group can groom candidates from the municipal level on up, ones that are prepared and can win; I will take an R over a D any day, even if their credentials are not conservative enough for me.

    “Stupid is as stupid does.”

Come on Monmouth County Republicans let show Barbara, I mean Helene, how we turn out the vote in Monmouth County!

Lets have our own Tea Party and throw them overboard once and for all and keep good strong fiscally conservative government here in Monmouth County!

    Lets take back our party.

Babs needs to win some municipal elections first to gain credibility. After Anna Little’s loss(es) she should have gone back to the drawing board, instead she went back to the firing line and is sending mortars at friendly targets. This attacks of long sitting SUCCESSFUL candidates should speak for volumes of her and the BTPG. There are venues to vett your candidates, but for obvious reasons the BTPG avoids them and tries to hoodwink the very party that extended the olive branch. I truly hope the chairman makes some swift and aggressive moves to put her in her place!

One can say what they want about sitting officials, but those individuals have accomplished more for the residents of NJ than the BTPG candidates ever have, since the BTPG candidates have never actually won a general election. It’s hard to score points in the game when your sitting on the bench.
