Leigh-Ann Bellew is preparing to challenge Kyrillos
Former congressional candidate Leigh-Ann Bellew of Union Beach is circulating a petition to run for State Senate in the 13th Legislative District, according to multiple sources familiar with the petition.
Petitions with at least 100 signatures are due to be filed with the Secretary of State/Division of Elections in Trenton on Monday, April 1st. 13th district incumbent Senator Joe Kyrillos’ petition with 200 signatures has been filed.
Bellew, 43, was the Republican nominee for Congress against Frank Pallone in 2006, running on the theme Mom on a Mission. She managed Anna Little’s primary campaign against Diane Gooch in 2010.
Bellew is a pro-life conservative who describes her political philosophy as Constitutionalist.
Bellew told MoreMonmouthMusings that she has collected about 200 signatures but has not made a final decision to run. She said she hopes to talk with Kryillos, who she said she likes personally.
“I am not happy with Joe’s apparent lack of conviction and leadership on important issues like life and the second amendment,” said Bellew ,”he says he’s pro-life personally and has a good voting record for life, but he blows with the win with his rhetoric. That’s not leadership.
‘Joe’s record on the second amendment is not good. He favors restricting gun rights. That is a big problem, especially given our current government in Washington. We need leaders on all levels to protect our rights.”
Bellew said she would make her final decision about running over the weekend.

Come back to planet earth and wrap your head around the fact that it’s the Democrat majority in Trenton that’s the problem, not the Republicans. You are aligning yourself with people who have no clue how to win an election and what’s more, have no clue as to what is wrong with this state. You never see the Tea Party attacking Sweeney, Oliver. Cryan, Greenwald or their union masters. No. Instead, they attack the only ones who keep us from completely going over the cliff. Dumb and getting dumber

While I admire Bellew’s commitment to Conservatism, this does not auger well for Bellew’s campaign if she does not yet have a firm commitment to run.
This IS the problem with the BSTP’s candidates, wanna be people that are ill prepared for the rigors of a campaign.

Ok Babs when was the last time the tea party ran someone against Sweeney, Oliver or Cryan? Don’t bother. The answer is never. Instead, they waste their time running anyone with a pulse against other Republicans to help the liberal democrats expand their majority. And Allan B – who cares? Do you understand that these primary challenges cost money, money that would be better spent fighting the well-funded liberal Democrats? So pointless, so wasteful and so stupid.

But I will state this emphatically: Kyrillos has voted against public workers. He has voted to effectively take collective bargaining rights from them….thats right I am a union Republican worker. Sounds like an oxymoron these days.
Kyrillos also voted to give Oxley a judgeship despite not requiring Joe release his FBI files. Allegedly these files contain some sort of relationship with Solomon Dwek.
Not saying Joe did any wrongdoing–but it seems certain people are against transparency–like Kyrillos.

This is very exciting. I hope she runs on the same ticket with pro-freedom GOP gubernatorial candidate Seth Grossman. The Grossman campaign is gaining momentum and fielding tickets in several counties, including Burlington with a full slate of tea party approved and constitutionally certified candidates. Hopefully the Tea Party can put together a full slate in Monmouth County, led by Seth Grossman, to take out the liberal RINO country club elitists led by Chris Christie and Joe Kyrillos.

Nervous? Get real. Frustrated with the BSTP? Yes. We are watching a once great organization with so much potential being run into the ground by a handful of people who have no idea what they are doing and refuse to learn what it takes to win an election. They are losing members faster than Bruce Willis is losing hair. They trash anyone who dares to disagree with them on an issue – even if they agree with them 90% of the time. They are hell bent on helping the Democrats increase their majority in Trenton. How sad
Perhaps BSTP was a great organization I don’t know. I do know that BTPG is a great organization & we have learned that silly, narrow minded people who hide behind screen names as they take swipes at people, are not to be taken seriously. What would the Tea Party have accomplished? Nothing, except giving the Democrat’s talking heads free dirt. If the TP spent more time figuring out how to unite with the Republicans instead of separating themselves, it would serve a higher purpose and just maybe one of their picks would be taken seriously. Until they get it, the Democrats will continue to benefit from their spite by winning elections, and the Republicans will continue if lucky to win marginally or lose altogether.

If she didn’t and collected 200 signatures, what a laughing stock Bellew has become.
If she DID file, this campaign will be as much a laughing stock as her last campaign.

First Bellew says she’s an educator, then I can’t find any educational positions on her various facebook, linked in and other pages…
Then she says she got 200 petition signatures, but I only see 154 listed on the Division Of Elections website.
Her Assembly running mates seem to have gotten more than twice the signatures.
Now, I do know that 100 is enough signatures, but having half what your running mates got shows a lack of organization and ground strength, wouldn’t it?
After all she has eluded to having a “professional” campaign organization.
Is Bellew a strong enough candidate?
