Rand’s Stand Against Drone Strikes
Senator Paul Stages Rare One-Man Filibuster of CIA Director’s Nomination (VIDEO)
By Matt Rooney | The Save Jersey Blog
As of this writing, Save Jerseyans, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) is engaged in one of the most dramatic practices unique to American-style democracy: the Senate filibuster.
Typically, U.S. senators “filibuster” a nomination or legislation by refusing to provide a majority of the 60 votes required for cloture. Paul is using the much rarer one-man approach made popularly famous by Mr. Smith Goes to Washington whereby one Senator continues to speak on the floor until he decides to stop (or simply cannot carry on). The Senator’s aim? Holding up the nomination of John Brennan for CIA director; he hopes this gesture will raise awareness of a controversial new Justice Department policy that many believe would permit drone strikes on American citizens without any due process whatsoever.

We finally have someone willing to have the nerve to challenge these statists taking away our freedoms daily. It is way beyond time for Republicans to grab some guts and conviction, and fight for us! Go Rand, Mike Lee, and those who really get it!
There is not much I agree with Rand Paul on but in this instance I agree that drones being used on American soil (possibly as a last/only resort to prevent a 9/11 type attack) deserves more discussion and debate than it has received.
Article: It is now clear. Obama has the option of using drones to kill his political opponents.

Gene…nobody ever implied the President has that kind of power. Sen. Graham (not exactly a fan of the President these days) said the question is ludicrous and does not deserve an answer.
Holder finally gave the answer Rand was seeking, that is the Pres. has no legal authority to just kill US citizens not engaged in attack. Graham,McCain, and some of the old dogs in the Senate hierarchy in our party better go find or buy a clue and get on the right page with people like Paul, Cruz, Thune, Rubio, etc. We are sick of their malfeasance in not addressing the spending and debt that is killing this country. When their committee assignments and pecking order become more important to them, than actually doing their job and defending our Constitution they swore to protect, it’s time to put them out to pasture, large pensions and best health plans in tow!! We will never be able to stop the madness if we don’t get on the same page and convey a sell-able message to the masses. Period. Go, Rand and co., you are true patriots, and my new heroes!
we cnat call terroist enemy combatants and lock them up in Gitmo and we have to give them a fair trail, but the President can order the use of drones on american soil to kill americans without a trail.
This administration’s logic is garbage. Go ahead all you Obama apologists explain this one away.
please excuse my spelling I am reeling from this one……..
Rand Paul was brilliant yesterday. He was cogent, dignified and gracious right up until the very end. It was quite something to watch.
Thank you Sen Paul for standing up for freedom. The White House players look pretty bad in comparison.
Like McCain and Graham. When it becomes more about them, their seniority and damn committee spots , we are in big trouble as a party and nation. They need to either get in board or get out! While they were chowing down with the socialist in chief, the Paul speakers were fighting for our very freedom. Wake up people, and support the few we have left trying to push back from this disgraceful ruination of the USA!
