VP Debate
Prior to the debate last night, I thought Joe Biden was a nice baffoon.
What an arrogant jerk he was last night! I think he hurt the Obama campaign.
Ryan didn’t knock my socks off, but I thought he requitted himself well.
What do you think?
24 Days
The VP was an arrogant creep. Rude, insecure, just awful. Loved how he was laughing al night. What the hell is so funny? Bet when Obama takes his head off for being such a jerk he won’t be laughing very much. Hey Joe, your poor performance “is a big F-ing deal”.
As a former member of a debate team at Fordham Prep many years ago (early 1960’s), I was taught to stay on point on the topic, and never, never interrupt.
I understand that in a political debate, these days, anything goes. When Jack Kennedy and Richard Nixon debated, at the dawn of the TV debates, there was respectful debate. Those who listened on the radio, felt that Nixon won the debate. Those who watched on TV, felt that Kennedy won the debate. TV lends itself to style over substance.
Overall, for substance, I would call the debate a draw; however the TV split screen showing an old codger smirking, laughing (what was the joke over Iran getting a nuclear weapon?), pointing fingers and mocking I believe will hurt Joe Biden with most people (other than the Chicago thug school of politics he obviously embraces).
Funny thing, my very first debate was on Social Security: “Resolved that Social Security is a Ponzi Scheme” was the topic and I was assigned to argue in the affirmative. Now, when the facts truly show that Social Security is a government sponsored “Ponzi” scheme (1945 there were 41.9 workers for every retiree, in 2010 there were only 2.9 workers for every retiree, with the “Baby Boom” generation now retiring, fewer jobs available, longer life expectancy) there is serious concern over the future solvency of the program.
Joe Biden can laugh all he wants; current retirees will face a 20% cut in benefits unless both parties can work, in a bi-partisan fashion, to shore up this program in a responsible manner. I really fear that my children and grandchildren will never see the fruits of a program that has helped many, including my parents and grandparents.
The Romney-Ryan ticket is our only real hope to grow our economy, put more people back to work (which results in more tax revenue and less government spending), and grow the middle class. We do not need to expand poverty; we need to shrink poverty through an improving economy.
All Joe Biden did was to show why the Obama Administration has failed – they are too arrogant to listen to any other way but their own.
Go on the lefty sites, they loved how Biden acted. I bet Obama did too since he has no class either. They are laughing stocks in so many ways.
Although I wanted Ryan to do/say more, I can’t even imagine how he was able to keep his composure with that clown next to him. He gets props for that.
I dont recall reading about any complaints after the first debate where Romney interupted Obama and the moderator numerous times.
As for last night, I doubt very many minds were changed. The key thing for both Biden and Ryan is politics asside, leaving the impression that they both could be President if needed (which they did.)
As for having any affect on the campaign, I dont think there will be much. As mentioned earlier, the most lopsided debate ever was when Benson destroyed Quayle…with that said, Bush Sr. still won by a wide margin in 1988.
Bob English reminds me of the violin player on the Titanic who kept playing as the ship sunk to the bottom of the sea. Anyway, Bob, I think you are wrong (as usual). Bidens idiotic laughing and rude behavior was all anyone talked about Friday. I have co-workers who are registered Democrats who were the most vocal about his assinine behavior. By itself, it may not sway many people, but put that on top of Obama’s dismal performance, the horrible economy, the trillions in debt, $5+ gas, the Libya debacle, etc., and the Obama/Biden ticket stinks worse than a tire-flattened skunk sac at dawn.
I turned on the debate thinking Foster Brooks was dead—-and there he was.
Vice President Biden’s performance was stunningly awful. Biden interrupted Paul Ryan 82 times. He spoke over Ryan incessantly; a behavior that TV viewers are known to despise. Watching Joe Biden attempt to bully another human being, was very very disturbing.
Joe Biden was downright obnoxious. He came across as arrogant, condescending, contemptuous and completely lacking in self control. Ugly, ugly, ugly. Midway through the debate, I could barely stand to look at him, let alone listen. I wanted to shower. Who could negotiate with a guy like that? What kind of leader treats those who would disagree with him, with such obvious contempt? What world leader would even want to be in the SAME ROOM with this ass?????
These debates have made it painfully clear why this administration has failed our nation. Biden and Obama. What a team.
While I And Many Others Have Been Out BUILDING OUR BUSINESS…
Oh, nothing new. Accepting FAR LESS than mediocrity from Bite Me Biden & apologizing for the regime.
As usual, Proud Republican NAILS it.
And to think that Biden is a “heart beat away.” There’s another reason for defeating Obummer. That way there will be NO chance for Biden to become President.
Imagine him engaging Putin or The Madman Of Iran, laughing and guffawing.
