Curley: “None of the above!”
Freeholder Director John Curley told MMM that he does not support either former Senate President John Bennett or State Committeewoman Christine Hanlon becoming the next chair of the Monmouth County Republican Committee.
“If I had a vote I wouldn’t vote for either one of them,” said Curley, “The chair should not be someone who is hussling for government contracts.”
Is this a “non endorsement” based on principles? The problem is, unless some dark horse emerges; one of them will be our Chair.
How would you think your comments will be taken by the incoming Chair. Will you be able to work together for the “Good Of The Party” and future elections?
Again, I love ya John. But this leaves me concerned for a united party.
John,
I love you as well!!! You have guts, and who the hell cares about “BUTS!”
All talk no walk
Despite your backing of John’s comments, the question still remains. Will John Curley be able to work with the incoming chair and will the chair be comfortable with Curley? After all, Freeholder campaigns are COUNTY campaigns.
whom any of the electeds support-I think it is healthy to see differing opinions, makes them work harder.. in the end, all will have to suck it up, dry their tears, nurse their bumps and bruises, get over it if they lost, and get back to work, beating the Dems! ..this one, and hopefully the ones to come, will be decided by the c.c…we know John, at least, has pledged to go back to county comm. selecting candidates.. works for many of us..
I have seen John in action several times. He has the guts to tell it like it is. People love him everywhere. The next chair should know by now of John’s popularity, and conversely it would be incumbent and wise to work with John.
Your last sentence seems to have ominous overtones—John will win any county campaign!!
It’s just that I thought it was a caustic comment at the wrong time.
You marvelous Irish Bastard! Great call!
You must have some inside information or something!
No one else is stepping up. Doubtful anyone will. The table is set.
Why stir the pot against BOTH candidates? It’s already a heated enough campaign.
You know, I kind of see John’s “NON endorsement” much in the light of the BSTP’s endorsement of Ron Paul. Sure, it’s on principles; and I love principles. But at this point it’s non effective and muck making.
Unless Curley plans on running for chair himself, his comments do nothing positive. Hanlon has a proven track record of uniting people, running great campaigns, running excellent events and working with people from all over the county. She is clearly the best candidate for the job, regardless of how Curley feels.
is what Curley is. The county is a mess.Back to the old days with nepotistic appointments and excess spending on non sense. and no I m not a democrat. Just an R not willing to give up my soul just because the “party” tells me to. NONE of those so called R’s in Freehold will do what’s right. Merge parks into County dept of public works. Sell under used golf courses the taxpayer is subisizing and sell excess property. Cutting spending gets lip service especially from tough guy Curley all talk no action. If you only knew the waste your head would spin all you R’s are being bamboozeled.
Talk is cheap. Put up or shut up John.
John Curley doesn’t want a chairperson who hustles for government contracts. That’s noble. If this is the route, why did everyone embrace Oxley? He hustled for his firm.
in John. That was a cheap shot that serves absolutely no purpose except to pad his ego when everyone says, “ooohhh isn’t John wonderful?” A bush league statement from someone who will never be accused of excessive loyalty to the people who bust their butts to help get him elected.
