HANLON ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR MONMOUTH COUNTY REPUBLICAN CHAIR

Republican State Committeewoman would be first female Republican Chair in Monmouth County History

OCEAN TWP.- Monmouth Republican State Committeewoman and Ocean Township Municipal Chair Christine Hanlon today formally announced her candidacy for Monmouth County Republican Chair. Hanlon, an attorney, has assisted Chairman Joe Oxley with the administration of the County Republican Party in recent years. She served as County Coordinator for the McCain-Palin campaign in 2008 and the Christie-Guadagno campaign in 2009. If elected, Hanlon will be the first female Republican Chair in Monmouth County history.

“Through my work on recent county-wide campaigns, I have become intimately familiar with and fully engaged in the inner workings and administration of our county Republican organization,” said Hanlon, who has the backing of most of the party leadership in the County.” I have worked hard to develop a strong grassroots volunteer network throughout the county, to increase communication from the organization, and to implement the use of technology and social media to advance voter outreach.”

“Monmouth Republicans will have a clear choice. We can move backward, or we can move forward. While we must honor our past, we must continue to move forward without the weight of past issues that can distract us from our mission,” concluded Hanlon.

announce while her opponent is busy with his mother-in-law’s wake and funeral, today and tomorrow.. personal ambition does not always show class and timing, does it?..

Why did it take so long for Carton and Nelson to throw her hat in the ring? Was it tangled in the puppet strings?

How childish a comment. I’ll bet you attacked Perry as well for announcing his candidacy from S. Carolina while something was going on elsewhere

You know, the County Chair election is in about 3 weeks. Times a wastin’ people need to be contacted. Besides, it’s been known anyway that she was running. She just made it official.

Christine Hanlon is the best person for the job! She has my vote!

  6. Jealousy is evident said at 8:20 pm on May 21st, 2012:

Nothing more pathetic than jealous so-called adults.
Best of Luck to Christine! A well deserved position.

  7. call it said at 9:25 pm on May 21st, 2012:

what you want, this is a railroad job attempting to build one new law firm, and for Trenton to to control this county.. if you wanna be a sheep, go right ahead!.. some informed and experienced people want Monmouth to stay Monmouth, and run our own county.. whaddaya do if/when Gov. Chubs either goes to Wash. or loses?.. beg the now-broke state to bail us out?..( yeah, people only give $ to winners).. you obviously do not know how tough it gets, and what happens when you lose local control.. drink the Koolaid, or stand up for our own county: your choice!

  8. How childish said at 9:29 pm on May 21st, 2012:

to whine and yell at people, and stamp one’s feet, when one gets an answer they don’t want!.. am simply sick of people who get things handed to them..

  9. Joe D. said at 10:01 pm on May 21st, 2012:

Its regrettable that she takes a direct shot at John Bennett in her announcement. Really? Why no just espouse your own ideas for the Party rather than the obvious jabs at John which are not necessary. Classless.

  10. Resume said at 10:39 pm on May 21st, 2012:

She does not have much of a record to go on. She has NOT voted in a primary prior to 2007, did NOT vote in the local elections in 2007, and was not a member of the Republican party until 2007.
She does legal work for the county, became a partner with her law firm within the last 4 years while doing legal work for the county, has been appointed to a PART-TIME position with HEALTH BENEFITS, she’s a town chair and a volunteer for the former county chair person, and I think she worked phones for Christie.
    Those are facts.
My personal interjection is, get your health benefits from your full time job at the law firm not a part time position from my tax dollars.

  11. Observer said at 10:43 pm on May 21st, 2012:

I see some county employees campaigning for Bennett getting upset. He has more government work in the county than any

  12. Joe said at 10:43 pm on May 21st, 2012:

Hanlon is a workhorse who has done more for the Monmouth GOP the last few years than almost anyone else. She deserves the position more than anyone else.

  13. Observer said at 10:48 pm on May 21st, 2012:

I see some county employees campaigning for Bennett getting upset that things aren’t going their way so they are trying to throw all the stones they have in their bag. They can try all they want to badmouth Christine, but anyone with half a brain knows its not credible. Grow up people. You know who you are as does everyone else. Christine will serve Monouth County Republicans well.

  14. Resume said at 11:25 pm on May 21st, 2012:

“Done more for Monmouth than anyone”. Really? Like what?
I know a lot of dedicated Monmouth County elected officials, committee people and volunteers who would like to know what she has done, let alone what she has done more than they have.

  15. Seriously said at 7:35 am on May 22nd, 2012:

Any truth to the story that during his 5 day stay in Drumthwackett, Bennett threw a wedding for his daughter on the property and lived like he was the 16th century Governor of the Isle of Jersey?

If true, along with all that was reported in the Press about him and bid rig, that shows just about all the sound judgement we don’t need in a county chair.

  16. Ocean Twp Committeeman said at 7:36 am on May 22nd, 2012:

This Ocean Township (Monmouth County) Republican Committeeman Supports Christine for Monmouth County Republican Chair!

  17. Sea Gull said at 7:52 am on May 22nd, 2012:

    Human? Ok, I’ll vote.

Keep an eye open for the catch all the time. Where is Ronald R.?

  18. Waaaaaah, whaaah said at 8:09 am on May 22nd, 2012:

    Grown men whinning, too funny!
    Go Christine!

  19. Seriously yes said at 8:31 am on May 22nd, 2012:

He partied like a rock star. In his 84 hours as acting governor he held 5-6 parties at the governors mansion including engagement parties for his daughters, pardoned a convicted felon and printed stationary. Your tax dollars at work.

  20. Stonewalled said at 10:27 am on May 22nd, 2012:

Is she really using Obama’s “Forward” mantra? She used it several times in the release.

  21. RepublicanRed said at 10:53 am on May 22nd, 2012:

This is not the time for “Nostalgia” or for Old Friendships renewed.
This is the time to work hard to elect our Republican candidates in November.
Lets keep the Republican winning streak in Monmouth County going and keep Christine doing all the work she has been doing behind the scenes for the past several years with the volunteers, fundraising, event planning and working with our Republican Candidates to win elections.
Christine Hanlon is the ONLY sound choice for a Republican Sweep in November as our Chair.

  22. Sean G. said at 12:00 pm on May 22nd, 2012:

“not the time for nostalgia” or “Old friendships”,
“honor our past but move forward”.
So how do you feel about Romney who is 65? How about the rest of us in this party who are in our 50s, 60s and God forbid older? Should we be packed away?

  23. Freespeaker1976 said at 2:50 pm on May 22nd, 2012:

    @Sean G.

I think you are taking the “old” part of this out of context, and perhaps a bit too personally. I would more apply the word to the “Good Old Boys” phrase that I believe aptly applies to Bennett and crew.

It’s time for a new day in Monmouth County and IMHO I believe Christine is better equipped grass roots wise to continue to build our organization.

  24. RepublicanRed said at 6:58 pm on May 22nd, 2012:

    @ Freespeaker1976

Thanks so much for clarifying what I meant by “old”
    Kuddos to you my friend!

I was not knocking the ages of people at all. Please forgive me Sean G or anyone else that my comments might have hurt. I had only the best of intentions.

I just believe that some people might be voting for Bennett because of their emotional ties that they have had with him in the past.

Loyalty is admirable, but with the Dems on our heels, I feel that we need to put the Republican Party first and choose what person as Chair will have best strategy at getting our candidates elected in Nov.

Christine Hanlon is the best choice for a winning slate in November.

  25. Edith T. Nowels said at 9:33 pm on May 22nd, 2012:

‘Emotional ties’ be damned..! With all the ‘slippery’ – ‘off the books’- ‘not so secret’ – “stuff” creeping in and around our Party, we need ‘GUTS, GIZZARD, and HEART’ and much more ‘TED NAROZANICK-LIKE PROFESSIONALISM’.

  26. JK said at 9:39 pm on May 22nd, 2012:

@ Free speaker and Rep Red.
I think Sean G. has hit the nail right on the head. We may be a bit older but we know exactly what you are saying. Our ears work and we can read between the line even if it is with our bifocals. “The good old boys” well I am not a boy and “time for a new day”. We are older and wiser not stupid. We know what you are saying.

She is young and aggressive but she has much too much to learn still. There is so much more to this position. It is not just calling for volunteers and a caterer. It would be different if she was a vice chair for a few terms or held significant office but as is, she is ripe to be used as a puppet and destined to fail most of Monmouth County.

  27. Freespeaker1976 said at 10:01 pm on May 22nd, 2012:

    @ JK,

I too am on the downside of 50, approaching 60 and I certainly did not take that as a knock on us older folks.

I have met and sat with Christine and I am THOROUGHLY CONVINCED that she is the person for the job.

John Bennett? It’s enough that my wife knows he’s the kind of guy that would throw a widow and her kids out her home.

  28. Running Nothing said at 10:03 pm on May 22nd, 2012:

Yea, she has been running things…right into the ground.

She picked this chicken-little guy to run against Frank P. He won’t even debate Little and has been committing near voter fraud for 10 years…. wow thats a vetting process.

HMMM… Lets have a meeting to choose candidates, notify the chair people with short notice on a friday in the AM early…. so no one can make EXCEPT electeds…. Oh yea, and Ima gone vote even though I don’t live in that district with my liberal republican friends like Beck and Angelini…. Yea that sounds good.

Give me a break… That is NOT leadership. And too boot I heard her say at French’s event couple of weeks ago to the Highlands Chair how “it was a shame” that anna didn’t get the line. Meanwhile if she is running things, she put a sitting chair, the highlands chair off the line…

Nahhh… not for me…. She needs to go back to being a lawyer and get out of this business…

  29. truth hurts said at 10:22 pm on May 22nd, 2012:

Is it true that Hanlon gets her health benefits from a part time political job? If so, is anyone else aware of this taxpayer abuse ? So much for a fiscal conservative. More like a true politician on the cocktail circuit spending tax dollars.

  30. Ted said at 11:03 pm on May 22nd, 2012:

    Well…she is pretty….

  31. TH: said at 10:56 am on May 23rd, 2012:

that’s the word: apparently, exceptions are sometimes made for some of the favored ones..but, why?.. dip, dip, dip…

  32. What bothers me said at 11:37 am on May 23rd, 2012:

What bothers me is that Bennett has 100k pension and health benefits for life from years of tacking part time lawyer gigs and still collects checks from dozens of government entities and had his family on government payrolls and still does. He is the biggest abuser of the system. He’s a legend alright.

  33. well, after only said at 11:10 pm on May 24th, 2012:

voting Rep. for 5 yrs., and working on 4 campaigns, “your girl” is poised to top his 30-plus years of distinguished, ELECTED service, in various public jobs, in record time!..so please, stop it, and at least be fair, for heaven’s sake..
