Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels Will Not Run For President

By Art Gallagher

In an email to supporters sent early this morning, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels said he would not enter the race for the GOP nomination for president, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The two term governor who worked for Presidents Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush said his decision came down to family concerns:

“I was able to resolve every competing consideration but one, but that, the interests and wishes of my family, is the most important consideration of all,” he said in an e-mail sent after midnight.

Daniels and his wife Cheri divorced in 1993 and remarried in 1997.  During those four years Cheri married a California man.  The Daniels’ four daughters, now adults, remained in Indiana with there father.  The Governor issued an other statement this morning to the Indianapolis Star this morning defending his wife against growing media scrutiny into their marriage, divorce, remarriage, and the claims by some that Cheri abandoned her daughters during their split:

“The notion that Cheri ever did or would ‘abandon’ her girls or parental duty is the reverse of the truth,” said his statement.

He called the idea “absurd to anyone who knows her, as I do, to be the best mother any daughter ever had.”

With Daniels out of the race, many observers expect the national Republican establishment to step up their efforts to recruit New Jersey Governor Chris Christie to seek the nomination.   Christie has repeatedly declared that he will not be a candidate while at the same time establishing himself as a national leader for education reform, entitlement reform and reducing the size of government.

Daniels withdrawal will also increase the focus on former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman.  Huntsman, who was President Obama’s ambassador to China,  is on a five day tour of New Hampshire.  He delivered the commencement address at Southern New Hampshire University and has made 12 campaign style stops throughout the Granite State.

If Huntsman formally enters the presidential race, for the first time two Mormons would be competing for a major party nomination.  Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, the leader in most polls for the GOP nomination, is also a Mormon.

Here again, the Main Street Media would have loved to pick the Republican Candidate via their push to get Daniels in the race. So many libs, one especially at the Washington Compost would have loved to have Daniels as the candidate even though they would not have voted for him.

The same effort will be made to push Huntsman, another RINO. And, despite Chritie’s MULTITUDE of not interesteds, the media will cheer on Christie for a candidate.

WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER CANDIDATES THAT ARE OUT THERE?

Why aren’t the pushing Herman Cain, Rick Perry and others?

Perhaps it might be that some of these other excellent candidates can beat our failure of a President.

So, they would rather have a Mr. Wimpy for a candidate.

am fervently hoping more people will understand the mentality and true disservice these media phonies constantly perpetrate on the Ameican electorate..for so many years, I’ve assumed that, the ones they trash the most, are the ones THEY fear the most, who could catch on, and actually beat back this daily lib/socialist assault on our freedoms and way of life: you can almost put it in order: Palin, Gingrich, Bachman.. they cower in fear of people who are so much more in tune with the average overtaxed, exhausted working American, and who are smarter and much more courageous, on the issues that count..I like Cain, Jeb, Bachman, Rubio, Allen West, and Rick Perry.. Romney, Pawlenty, Huntsman, and several other RINOS, would be the third biggest mistake the GOP could make for a candidate, the first two being Dole and McCain: there are simply NOT enough voters today, who will vote for an old war hero-who happens to be a RINO-period!.. if we haven’t learned this painful lesson by now, we’re just done!..time for closing our ears to the hype and mainstream media asassinations, and go with our pocketbooks, our brains, and our guts!- the strongest and most courageous one, with the ability to draw the clear distinctions between what we have now ( total tyrrany and destruction) and what we need ( the rolling back of every policy that’s ruining us today), is who we all need to vet out and get behind, before it’s way too late!..

Really? I wonder who you really speak for. Could it be that fringe faction of the extreme right? YOU are what’s wrong. You and your idiology of hate all that makes America great. You think you speak for millions…you couldn’t be more wrong. I have asked this question many, many times and all I get back are talking points from the right…what rights/liberties have been taken away from you..personally. I would bet there aren’t any and you are just following whatever kool aid the leaders of the right have given you to drink. And believe me…no “cowers” against the radical and ill informed right. Palin is now more of a joke than she was when she ran. Bachman is just plain nuts and the rest have absolutely no new ideas…just worn out old phrases and policies.

It just get tiresome with all the namby pamby right wingnut whining is all…and still, you don’t answer the question…what rights/liberties have been taken away from you…personally so that you can gripe and moan all day long. And please, none of the talking points bull….
