In the 11th: DuPont Not Running, Gopal Is Bidding For Assembly, Jacobson Might Challenge Casagrande
Santiago likely for Senate
By Art Gallagher
MoreMonmouthMusings has learned that Red Bank Councilman Michael DuPont, also the Treasurer of the NJ Turnpike Authority and Borough Attorney of Sayreville, will not be a candidate for Senate or Assembly in the new 11th legislative district.
DuPont told RedBankGreen ,”it’s not happening. I have a young family, including twin four year olds.” Translation: Being a Senator would be a pay cut for DuPont that he can’t afford now.
Former West Long Branch Democratic Chairman and Kucinich for President Deputy National Campaign Manager Vin Gopal confirmed that he is in the running for an Assembly nomination in the 11th.
Gopal will not have an easy ride to the nomination in the competitive field. Sources who swear they will never talk to me again if I name them say State Democratic Chairman John Wisniewski is opposed to Gopal’s candidacy because of how Vin cost The Wiz a Senate seat by rallying progressive Democrats against the Chairman’s preferred legislative map. As co-chair the the Redistricting Commission, Wisniewski proposed a Middlesex County District that would have pitted ultra liberal Kucinch type Democratic Senators Barbara Buono and Joe Vitale in the same district and left the Wiz in a district with no incumbent Senator so that he could move up himself. In part because of Gopal’s efforts, Middlesex got a Senate vacancy in the 12th that is going to Sam Thompson.
Freehold Township attorney Ray Santiago is now said to be the front runner for the Democratic Senate nod in the 11th, rather than a candidate for Surrogate or Assembly as previously reported. Boosters of Santiago for Senate are touting his Hispanic origin. Someone should tell them that Gopal is Asian.
Elsewhere in the 11th, Republican publisher and former Democratic Assemblyman Dan Jacobson announced in the triCityNews that he is now considering running in the GOP primary for Assembly against Caroline Casagrande now that Sean Kean is in the 30th district. Jacobson said in the triCityNews published yesterday that he was going to take a week to mull it over. I was going to plead with my readers not to tell Dan that the filing deadline in Monday the 11th, but Jacobson just said he wrote that eariler in the week and is aware of the deadline. He said that he will make a decision over the weekend.
Dan,
Hopefully this weekend you will consider challenging Jennifer Beck.
With the new district encompassing Asbury Park, I think she will have a huge problem with her stance against marriage equality.
She has a record where she is against enhanced penalties for “Texting while Driving” (you know, those annoying SOB’s that cause accidents and are distracted making things dangerous for driver’s and pedestrians alike) She refuses to have the license’s of these people suspended when caught. Who knows, maybe she sympathizes with people who don’t obey the law since she had her license suspended already several times by the courts for failing to obey the law.
Then she also has problems with school funding. I don’t think she ever elaborated on that remark in the past. Perhaps her feet will now be held to the fire since this district has two Abbot School Districts located in the 11th Distict (Asbury Park, Neptune).
Us little folks in the Freehold Regional HS District requested she attended just ONE school board meeting to gather information regarding a bill preventing academic fraud.
As you may recall, our district was the epicenter of academic fraud in 2008, when our superintendent, two asst. supts, and two school supervisors were caught red-handed with cracker jack box doctorate degrees and received extra compensation.
Jenny refused to attend. The little people that put her in office were basically told to Drop Dead.
So Dan, please consider running for senator.
Oh, and how could I have forgotten:

Wisniewski has NO influence over Monmouth Dems.
If Vin Gopal wants the nomination it’s his to have.
Also your attempt at race baiting is dispicable, like much of what you print here.
I suppose its a good think that Gopal and Santiago aren’t black or gay otherwise you might be tempted to discribe them as faggity N*****s
Actually BigDem, you are the only person in the history of MMM to type those words.
That proves what we always thought of you Dems.
Like Bull Connor.
Like Fred Phelps.
Like you.
Jim Sage, when are you going to get off your high horse and just go away? Seriously! No one takes you seriously because you attack people that don’t kiss your ass as if you’ve walked on water. Get over yourself. Your a nobody and will always be a nobody. Best you come to reality now before its too late.
And before you go speculating, in no way am I connected to any political officials, I’m just tired of listening to you complain because no one thinks highly of you like you do yourself. I’m just a gal that just wants to tell you to SHUT UP!
Good article Art! It’s going to be an interesting year in Monmouth County politics county wide and state wide. Never a dull moment in Jersey politics! Haha.
Yes Commonsense..I am a “nobody.” Better yet, let me go one step further–an insignificant nobody.
I take it your all for Jenny Beck. Obviously I am not. After all the hard work I , and others did for her in her assembly campaign–she turns her back on her constituents. NOT GOOD!!
Grab some popcorn and enjoy the show…the best is yet to come, lol
Turned her back on her constituents? Please do elaborate, Jim.
I did some checking and there is some legislation initiated by Jen Beck that seems to catch my attention.. in no particular order and not all have become law, because Dems and dopes like Jacobson are more worried about 6 gay people in Asbury Park than taxes and crime throughout the state. And I’m not here to score points with Beck, but if you’re going to make blanket “turned her back” statements, please do explain, with facts because it’s not so evident to me when looking at the bills.
S704 – Decreases sales and use tax rate from 7% to 6%. (I HATE Corzine’s 7% sales tax!)
S740 – Prohibits simultaneous holding of certain State, county and municipal elective and appointive positions. (I HATE double dippers!)
S222 – Criminalizes participation in a criminal street gang. (I HATE gangs!)
S745 – Provides full forfeiture of pension of elected or appointed official convicted of any crime touching office. (I HATE criminals!)
S1060 – Reduces number of paid holidays for all State and local government employees to parallel federal schedule. (I HATE the public workers holiday schedule!)
S2146 – Provides for establishment and operation of casino at Meadowlands Complex. ( I HATE that other states are taking our evil, immoral gambling addict’s money!)
S2238 – Amends Kyleigh’s Law to suspend requirement that graduated driver licensees display decal until certain technology developed. (I HATE age discrimination… and orange stickers!)
… I mean, I’ll even maybe kind of admit only once that maybe this isn’t such bad legislation either…
S2665 – Repeals obsolete statutes concerning the status of women.
🙂
… or maybe YOU want another Sweeney Democrat? with bills like
S10 – Increases gross income tax rate on income exceeding $1,000,000 for taxable year 2010.
… hey by the way, I hear that Jim Sage is a double dipper himself, retired from one government job and collecting retirement benefits while working for the government at the same time. Maybe the bone to pick here is that Beck has a bill (S740) that goes after double dippers? Hrm.
Just sayin’… more info needed about your beef with Jen Beck. I don’t know that I agree with all of her votes (or specifically one of her non-votes) but I have to say, it seems like she’s trying to do a fair job of representing her constituents as best she can in a D controlled Senate and I’d gladly take another Jen Beck over another Sweeney who just wants to raise my taxes, tolls, etc.
James,
Back during the summer of 2008, when the largest case of academic and economic fraud was breaking at the Freehold Regional High School District, whereby 5 employees was exposed for receiving online, unaccredited, diploma-mill degrees–it took the likes of Mary Pat Angelini and William Codey to request from the AG (Annie Milgram) to investigate public school educators who receive tax-payer funded raises after getting bogus online degrees. Codey, specifically cited a story published in the Asbury Park Press.
Mary Pat Angelini told me it was a “put-down” to those that earned their degrees and further called upon the FRHSd administrators to return their ill-gotten gains. She further stated she along with Bill Codey (Essex County), will be sponsoring legislation prohibiting such unethical, immoral behavior. Is something missing here?? Yes, Jennifer Beck. Both have asked me where is your legislator on this? I told them I informed Jen Beck and heard nothing. This is the same woman during her quest for assembly in 2005, I was out on the highways in the rain, placing her signs up.
I informed Beck’s office to attend just one BOE meeting–if not for speaking purposes, then to sit quietly and “fact find.” She never attended one meeting–despite my pleas and that of others. For purposes of full disclosure, I will admit she finally did send a legislative aide–but for an issue this important with statewide ramifications–she should have attended. I did not place signs in the mud, nor did I vote for her legislative aide.
This story was so huge it was the Asbury Park Press story of the year (2008).
On another matter, I/we know she is sponsoring a bill against “double-dippers.” She also had on her web site in the past, a “STOP and Report Waste Fraud and Abuse.” Well, I did just that with the pension fraud emanating from the Sheriff’s Department. Go to: http://newjersey.watchdog.org/2011/03/24/1970/
The evidence on this site is compelling enough to at least call it wrong. It involves “double-dipping” through fraudulent means. Beck was notified–again, she did or said nothing. I informed her of this back in January. At least call for a special independent counsel to look at this. You saw my letter in the Transcript regarding the events that transpired on March 22nd at the County Library, Manalapan–DISGRACEFUL if I must say. Again, she refuses to discuss the matter.
Ask her why she sent a mysterious man to my house regarding this event. Ahhh, didn’t know about that did you James? You see, there is much more going on. Am I angry at this visit?? Yep!! Was he sent here to intimidate and mute my criticisms of the senator?? I think so.
As for me being a “double-dipper”…Yes, I am working for a government agency. Neither through fraud, deception, or breaking any pension or criminal laws.
So I hope I have cleared things why I feel she has betrayed and turned her back on her constituents. The mysterious man I referred to earlier– will be addressed at a later opportunity.
Getting back to the FRHSD–Art Gallagher was more helpful to me than Beck. This blog brought about the desired results in cleaning out the rats nest at the school district.
People I never imagined, called or emailed me, informing me they received their information from Art’s blog–everyone but Jennifer.
You turn your back on your constituents—they do likewise!
I used to kind of despise the folks who referenced bill numbers but I find myself becoming one of them as with a little honest research, the answers seem to all be there…
Have a look at S826 – Requires certain conditions be met in order for school districts to provide their employees with tuition assistance for coursework or additional compensation upon acquisition of academic credits or completion of a degree program. — Beck, Jennifer as Primary Sponsor
http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2010/Bills/S1000/826_I1.HTM Isn’t that the BigDeal(TM) you’re talking about? I’ve been around, I know the story well. And again, I’m not here to be the workhorse for the Beck campaign like you maybe once were or even try to get a #1 Support foam finger… but it seems like she must have been aware of/informed on the issue enough to sponsor the bill, right?
Aside from that, I did not know about the “mysterious man” at your house… some Jehovah Witness folks came to my door again this morning, they were a bit mysterious, same people? I did know you were a double dipper though, so I’m not totally uninformed. How did you find out Beck sent the “mysterious man”? Did you get a name or description for this “mysterious man” by chance? If you can provide info , I’ll be on the lookout for him and I’ll check my surveillance cameras to see if he ever came to my house; I am a vocal pain and street working critic with a bad attitude who doesn’t make many friends if you haven’t noticed, but not “”mysterious man”, aside from the Jehovah Witness people, has come to my house, that I know of.
I do say all of this nicely by the way – Do keep up your work and efforts, I think a loud critic, even when they seem to be wrong and lack strong facts to support their case, helps keep everyone honest.
And like I tell others, I’m not mad at you personally for being a double-dipper, I’m mad at the system we have that allows it, and the Democrats who won’t put Beck’s bill to stop it up for a vote, and Sheila Oliver who hasn’t even had the Assembly in session in a month or so to try to address and fix some problems, not that I think she and the Democrats would get it right anyhow, maybe I shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth.
It appears that Jim Sage is so fanatical about his Beck vendetta that he is looking to team up with socialists to get her.
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Pat-Noble-Socialist-Candidate-for-Monmouth-County-Freeholder/137611676309180
I think I will stick with Jen.
I know Jim very well. He works with all-I guess socialists too. I have seen him at fundraisers, veterans events, and raise money for sick children. Loud yes..but honest. I live in freehold twp and am extremely aware of the frhsd fake degree stuff. thanks to jim he uncovered that fiasco. Jeniffer did indeed turn her back on this district. Freehold is still part of her new district and she will not get my support. Ray is from freehold and I will support him.
Good luck jim!!!
Jen beck was not there when we needed her the most!!
Socialists, thats would be funny but not out of the relm for him. I heard (Sage sightings) he was at a gay political alliance last week at Asbury, wheeling and dealing as usual. I guess its prisons and homeless shelters to recruit…the guy is a fanatic. maybe him and Costigan should lead the county.
On a more serious note I believe he led a rebellious group against the last republican mayor of Marlboro (cant recall the name) If he doesn’t get his way he jumps up and down like a kid. but if these alliances are true, JB may be in trouble in whats predicted to be a tough race with the new municplaities in the new district.
Unbelivable—all you people are so scared of him. Just talk to him thats all.
