Serena DiMaso Announces Her Candidacy For Assembly In LD 13

Freeholder Serena DiMaso

Freeholder Serena DiMaso, a resident of Holmdel, announced her candidacy for the Republican nomination for State Assembly in the 13th Legislative District this morning in a press release.

LD 13 is located in northern Momouth County. The district is comprised of Aberdeen, Atlantic Highlands, Fair Haven, Hazlet, Highlands, Holmdel, Keansburg, Keyport, Little Silver, Marlboro, Middletown, Monmouth Beach, Oceanport, Rumson, Sea Bright and Union Beach.

“The retirement of our great State Senator, Joe Kyrillos, has left some big shoes to be filled and those shoes will likely be filled by one of our current Assembly members”, said DiMaso. “After speaking with my campaign team, and having Sheriff Shaun Golden and Freeholder Tom Arnone offer their encouragement and support I have decided to announce my candidacy for the New Jersey State Assembly from the 13th District.”

Current Assembly Members Amy Handlin and Declan O’Scanlon are competing for the Senate seat being vacated by Kyrillos.  DiMaso’s announcement for one of Handlin and O’Scanlon’s seats is followed by the announcement of Fair Haven Councilman Bob Marchese last week.

“During my tenure on the Monmouth County Board of Freeholders, my colleagues and I have dramatically cut spending and we’ve cut taxes.  At the same time, the quality of the services and infrastructure the County Government provides has improved. We have shown in Monmouth County that it is possible to have a good government which is affordable.  I want to take that mindset to Trenton,” DiMaso continued.

Freeholder DiMaso was re-elected in November of 2016 despite a $1.5 million negative campaign run by Monmouth County Democrats funded largely from sources outside Monmouth County.

“I did not anticipate running for higher office after such a hard fought victory at the county level”, said DiMaso. “But with New Jersey suffering from anemic economic growth and reports that for the fifth straight year, New Jersey leads the country in residents leaving the state for greener pastures, I believe the opportunity to have my voice heard in Trenton on behalf of the people of the 13th Legislative District is one I must pursue.”

DiMaso concluded, saying “ I look forward to speaking with the people of the communities that make up the 13th District and sharing my plans for a better future for New Jersey.”

Serena has a great history of supporting volunteer services especially her personal commitment to EMS. Her work to hold the line on taxes includes improving low cost shared services in our county. Nothing is lower cost than volunteer services.

Serena and the Freeholders have the ability to support volunteer emergency responders recruitment and retention by extending the Counties existing Veteran’s free County Park access program to volunteer emergency responders in Monmouth County. As an Assembly person she could do similar things at the State level.

I hope she considers this and shows us her ability to make good ideas reality.

Serena DiMaso didn’t support Trump during the Presidential campaign. In fact, she fell for the liberal press’s caricature of Trump’s treatment of women. Cross her off the list.

I would not hold not supporting Trump against her.
