Asbury Park Police Officers Plead Guilty To Criminal Mischief, Retaliation

Two Asbury Park Police Officers admitted that they vandalized vehicles in retaliation for a citizen’s internal affairs complaint, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced today.

Asbury Park Police Officer Stephen Martinsen, 31, and former SLEO-2 Thomas Dowling, 27, both of Asbury Park, entered guilty pleas virtually today to fourth-degree Criminal Mischief before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Vincent N. Falcetano, Jr.

Arnone to Murphy: Let restaurants and gyms open or at least give them your plan

Monmouth County Freeholder Director Tom Arnone issued the following statement regarding Governor Phil Murphy’s job and business crushing policies that are keeping New Jersey’s gyms and restaurants closed:

On behalf of the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders, I am asking Governor Murphy to either permit restaurants to host indoor dining or, at least, put together a staged plan with dates on when this next phase will begin. I also ask the same for gyms and any other industry that has yet to reopen due to the State’s shutdown orders.

Former Ocean Twp Police Officer Charged With Theft and Forgery

Cory R. Cole, 49, of Brielle, a former Ocean Township Police Officer, was charged with multiple counts of Theft by Deception and Forgery, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced this morning.

Cole previously, in January, charged with Theft by Failure to Make Required Disposition of Property Received and two counts of fourth-degree Forgery. He resigned from the OTPD after the initial charges were filed against him.

Public’s Help Sought In Finding Shooter Of 4 Year Old Asbury Park Girl

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Asbury Park Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the shooter of a 4 year old girl.

At approximately 1:35 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, a 4-year-old child was shot while sitting outside the family’s home on Boston Way. The child was shot in the upper thigh area, breaking the femur bone. The injury is deemed serious, but non-life threatening.

Union Beach will have light beams on 9/11

Union Beach will shine light beams from their waterfront on September 11 and 12 from 7 p.m. till 10 p.m., Councilman Al Lewandowski announced on facebook.

The Twin Beams at Ground Zero will not be lit this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lewandowski said that particulars will be announced on Weds, August 19 following the Borough Council meeting on Tues, the 18th.
