Immediate Care Celebrates 1 Year Anniversary

HAZLET – Launching one year ago, Immediate Care Medical Walk-in of  Hazlet has serviced thousands of patients in the past year. The 1.5  million dollar, state of the art,  4500 square foot medical facility  with 10 examination rooms,  a digital X-Ray room, along with a phlebotomy lab, launched12 months ago to help the medical needs of area residents.

“Our first year in the community received a wonderful response,” stated Medical Director, Dr. Lisa Golding-Granado, MD.

“We provide 98% of the top medical services that people regularly  need,” said  Dr. Golding-Granado, “we  treat  urgent care issues  such  as  infections, migraines, minor injuries and lacerations, or primary  care services such as checking for diabetes, blood pressure and providing physicals.”

Other services include the following: vaccines, Echo and Aortic Ultrasounds,  Sleep Apnea Testing, Medication Metabolism Testing (DNA), Nerve  Conduction Testing, Diabetic Education, Weight Loss Programs, School,  Sports and DOT Physicals.

The facility is open 84 hours a week, Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. till 3 p.m.

The grand opening of the medical center one year ago brought forth  top dignitaries, mayors, state legislators and freeholders to the  facility. Some of the successful events that happened in Immediate  Care’s first year included a blood drive, the Relay for Life Walk, the Union Beach 5K Run, a Day of Health and Hurricane  Prepardness, along with the VNA of Central NJ , as well as participating in the Hazlet Community Day.

As Immediate Care prepares for its second year in  business, the  facility is preparing to serve more patients and expand its current set  of activities and services.

School Supplies Needed

The RAINE Foundation & ImmediateCare of Hazlet are asking for school supply donations to help the families effected by Hurricane Sandy.

The supplies needed will be for children in kindergarten through high school. Paper, pens, crayons, pencils, folders, and notebooks are a few of the examples of what is needed.

SIX YEAR OLD SAVED AFTER TREATMENT FOR SEVERE BREATHING PROBLEM

(Hazlet, NJ) — Immediate Care Medical Walk-in of Hazlet lived up to its name recently, after a frantic mother carried her six year old daughter into the facility for difficulty breathing. “She was on the verge of going into anaphylactic shock, wheezing, had difficulty breathing and had broken out in a rash,” said Stacie Stopen, nurse practitioner.  “We immediately administered oxygen, gave her an injection of steroid and started her on a breathing treatment of a bronchodilator.  She was smiling and breathing normally within the hour.”

The problem started when a classmate offered the little girl a bite of her sandwich that contained a luncheon meat with peanuts, to which she was allergic.  That resulted in an almost immediate difficulty in breathing.   Her teacher quickly contacted the school nurse who, in turn, called her parents.  The mother took the little girl home and soon discovered that the child was progressing to hives even after an Epipen injection and some Benadryl, it still wasn’t helping.  So they drove to Immediate Care Medical Walk-in of Hazlet where they were treated immediately.

“That’s why we’re here,” says Dr. Lisa Golding-Granado, medical director of the facility.  “Our staff is trained for virtually any crisis.  And there’s, typically, little or no wait.”

Mayors Helping Mayors: Gulf Coast Mayors Visiting Jersey Shore, NJ Mayors Next Week

A group of former mayors and a former congressman who led their Mississippi communities to recovery from Hurricane Katrina are coming to the Jersey Shore next week to share their knowledge and experience with New Jersey’s mayors and senior municipal officials who are continuing to deal with the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.

The group will be speaking at a meeting of the Bayshore Conference of Mayors on Friday evening May 17, 7PM, at Anthony’s Restaurant, 65 Church St in Keansburg.  All mayors and senior municipal officials of towns impacted by Sandy are invited, according to Union Beach Mayor Paul Smith, the conference president.  Those wishing to attend should contact Smith via text or phone call at 732-713-0506.   If someone who should have gotten an invitation didn’t, this is it. Readers are encouraged to pass this post on to their mayors.

The Mississippi delegation, comprised of former Congressman Gene Taylor and former mayors Brent Warr, Eddie Farve, and Tommy Longo, is being flown to New Jersey free on charge by Southwest Airlines.  Their lodging is being donated by Dominique Ervin, General Manager, Hampton Inn of Neptune/Wall and Sal Cannizarro of Immediate Care Medical Walk In of Hazlet.

This mayors helping mayors project is the brainchild of author and former CNN correspondent Kathleen Koch.  A Bay St’ Louis, MS native, Koch has dedicated herself to supporting survivors of natural disasters since Katrina.  She is the author of Rising from Katrina: How My Mississippi Hometown Lost It All and Found What Mattered and is donating a signed copy as a door prize for the conference.  She was sent to Japan by the U.S. State Department in March of this year to deliver her message of Resiliency and Words of Hope to the survivors of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami of the second anniversary of that catastrophic event.

State of the Art Medical Facility Opens in Hazlet

IMMEDIATE CARE Medical Walk-In creates 25 new jobs, provides quality convenient health care in the bayshore

“It’s like a hospital in the mall,” exclaimed Sal Cannizzaro of the 4500 square foot medical facility he built in Hazlet’s Airport Plaza.  With 10 examination rooms, an digital X-Ray room a phelobotomy lab, the entrepeneur is obviously proud of his new baby.  “We’re even paperless with EMR (electronic medical records), the only paper you see in this office is the sign in sheet and your appointment card.  We invested $1.5 million in this facility and we’re employing 25 people.

With the real estate market in the tank Cannizzaro, a builder and developer, teamed up with his physican, Dr. Lisa Golding-Granado, MD, who also happened to be his tenant, to create IMMEDIATE CARE Medical Walk-In of Hazlet with the mission of taking the hassle out of going to the doctor.

“Dr. Golding-Granado’s office had a two week wait to get an appointment,” said Cannizzaro, “when you’re suffering and need a doctor, you can’t wait that long and the emergency room costs a forture for the patient and the insurance company.”

“For anyone that leaves within a three to five mile radius, we provide high quality care from board certified physicians, without that hassle,” Cannizzaro explained, “you don’t need an appointment, you’re waiting only 15 minutes and we send you home in 45 minutes. We take all insurances and medicare.”

“Urgent care is for non-emergent, non-traumatic problems that need to be addressed quickly. Major traumas, heart attacks, stokes and the like are for the emergency rooms.  Urinary track infections, bronchitis, migranes and the like we can treat here quickly and more affordably,” said Golding-Granado, “we can also check your diabetes and blood pressure, perform X-Rays and Labs and provide vaccines.

In addition to Golding-Granado, IMMEDIATE CARE is staffed with a board certified orthopedic surgeon, an osteopath certified in Sport and Family Medicine, three nurse practitioners who can prescribed meds and three RN’s.  Cannizzaro and Golding-Granado plan to add a Pediatric specialist to their staff soon.

A large crowd of business, government and community leaders were on hand last week to welcome IMMEDIATE CARE at their ceremonial grand opening.

Northern Monmouth Chamber of Commerce President Cliff Moore is excited to see a new business opening in Hazlet. “It is a beautiful state of the art facility that is using what was a vacant store front on Route 36,” said Moore, “they’re employing more than 25 local residents.  That’s a great combination and a welcome additon to the community.”

The grand opening may be the first of many.  IMMEDIATE CARE plans to open a physical therapy center and two more health care facilities in Monmouth County in the next 18 months on their way to building 10-12 centers in in Central New Jersey over the next few years.
