Belmar Accountant Stole $1,175,720 From Orthopedic Doctors

Harry Wolfmuller, 70, formerly of Belmar, admitting embezzling $1,175,720 over eight years from the orthopedic medical practice where he was Chief Financial Officer, according to an announcement by Acting U.S. Attorney William E. Fitzpatrick.

Coast Guard rescues four boaters near Keansburg

A U.S. Coast Guard heavy weather boatcrew from the Sandy Hook station rescued four men from a boat in the Raritan Bay near Keansburg this afternoon, according to a release from the Guard’s New York Detachment.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New York received a report around noon by Perth Amboy 911 dispatch of a disabled 22-foot lake pleasure craft in Raritan Bay, New Jersey with four people aboard, and launched the Sandy Hook heavy weather boatcrew.  Read the rest of this entry »

Big Parkway exit project scaled back, but expanded Park and Ride lot only weeks away

Hit and Run Child Killer to be Resentenced

UPDATE: Marletta’s resentencing hearing has been rescheduled for 2PM on December 15 in Judge Falcetano’s courtroom.

Toni Ann Marletta, the woman who struck and killed 15 year old Marissa Procopio of Atlantic Highlands on Route 36 in Leonardo on July 7, 2015 and left the scene, will be resentenced for the crimes she pleaded guilty to on December 15.

A two-judge panel of the Court’s Appellate Division vacated Marletta’s 7 year sentence for Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Accident and 4 year sentence for Endangering the Welfare of a Child on October 25, according to a report published by The Monmouth Journal.  The Appellate Court ruled that the Trial Court shall not consider one of the aggravating factors of the case and shall consider two mitigating factors in the resentencing.  The Order did not explain those factors or the reasons for overturning the original sentence because the case is sealed.
