Quick action by Pt. Pleasant Beach Mayor Stephen Reid and Congressman Chris Smith will ensure that the Manasquan Inlet remains navigable for commercial and recreational marine traffic this summer.

35 swimmers saved during weekend in Belmar, officials say

BELMAR — Thirty-five swimmers were saved this weekend in the borough as Tropical storm Jose created life-threatening rip currents along the Jersey Shore. Coast Guard Busts Recreational Fisherman For No Permits

U.S. Coast Guard officers from Station Barnegat Light and Manasquan Inlet recently caught three recreational fishing crews in the Atlantic fishing without the correct permits.  One fishing party was fishing for bluefin tuna without a Highly Migratory Species (HMS) fishing permit, according to an announcement by U.S, Coast Guard 5th Detachment PA in Atlantic City.

Fishing for bluefin tuna without a HMS fishing permit subjects the offender to a $500 fine for the first offense and $750 for subsequent offenses.

Coast is cleared for 2 new artificial reefs for Jersey waters
