Investors Foundation Donates $5K To Legal Aid

OCEAN TOWNSHIP- The Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County received a $5,000 grant from Investors Foundation to support the Society’s mission to act as a conduit between the indigent residents of Monmouth County and Pro Bono attorneys willing to accept the assignment.

This $5,000 grant was presented to Mark T. Apostolou, Jr., Esq., President of the Legal Aid Society and Valerie Hemhauser, Esq., Executive Director of the Legal Aid Society, by Peter Leyman, Investors Bank Vice President Professional Services and Christopher M. Colts Neck Lion’s Club: BEEP Baseball Tournament & Eye Screening Update

The Colts Neck Lions are thrilled to be able to assist the National Beep Baseball Association with their upcoming tournament that will be played right in our backyard at Dorbrook Recreation Area on July 14th.  We invite the community to come out and support BEEP Baseball, the games will be played at 8:45am, 11:00am and 1:00pm. Marlboro Gets $96K Clean Communities Grant

Marlboro Township has been awarded a $95,842 Clean Communities Grant from the NJ Department of Environmental Protection, Mayor Jon Hornik announced this afternoon.

“We constantly strive to identify alternate sources of funding for critical needs, and parks and public spaces are essential to the quality of life in our Town,” said Mayor Hornik. “The Clean Communities grant allows us to dedicate additional resources to the maintenance of these areas.”

Congressman Smith Recognizes Service Academy Freshman

Rep. Smith on Saturday with some of the 17 students from New Jersey’s Congressional District 4 who will be attending the service academies.

NEPTUNE, NJ—U.S. Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) commended a dozen students from the Fourth Congressional District who will soon be leaving to attend the nation’s prestigious military academies. Smith hosted a reception Saturday afternoon for the future cadets and midshipmen, and their families, as they prepare for four years of college at the military service academies and a commitment to serving in our nations Armed Forces upon completion of their education.

“It was hard work that got you here, it will take persistence, commitment, courage and devotion to God and our country to succeed,”Smith said to the nominees present at the forum. “And succeed you will—as the next generation of leaders in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Merchant Marine.”

200 Club Honoring Six Brave Police Officers Today

The Monmouth County 200 Club will bestow its highest honor, the Valor Award, on six police officers today during their annual awards luncheon which is taking place at the Spring Lake Golf Club from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

“The 200 Club of Monmouth County is proud to recognize the outstanding achievements of first responders. Today, we honor more than 100 first responders for exemplary service to our community. Among them are six police officers receiving our highest honor, the Valor Award, in recognition of particularly exceptional bravery, putting their own lives at risk to save and protect others. They deserve, and have earned, our utmost respect and gratitude,” said Kim Guadagno, president of the club.

Of the six officers receiving the valor award, four are members of the Asbury Park Police Department.

‘Happy Memorial Day’ Is Not An Oxymoron

I was just lectured about wishing someone a “Happy Memorial Day”. “Isn’t that an oxymoron,” I was asked, “Right up there with “Jumbo Shrimp” and “Military Intelligence”?

This was as I joined my fellow patriots in stocking up with supplies for the grill and ice chest.  In addition to cheering at parades and participating in celebrations throughout the weekend, we do have responsibilities that extend beyond not showing up at the BBQ empty handed.

At Gettysburg, Lincoln summed up our responsibility pretty clearly.  He commissioned each of us, throughout the ages, to ensure “that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion — that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain.” Read the rest of this entry »

Sandy Hook, NJ—The Jersey Shore Partnership Foundation (Partnership) will kick off its 22^nd Annual Summer Celebration on Monday, June 10, 2019 at Fort Hancock, Sandy Hook from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m.  The Monmouth County Young Democrats and Republicans are heading up the Summer Celebration Young Professionals Committee, bringing together business associates ages 21-35 to support the Partnership’s mission to ensure that our 127 mile beachfront from Sandy Hook to Cape May is preserved and protected.

Committee chairs are Kinn Badger, Executive Director, Monmouth County Democrats, and Jason Sena, Esq., an associate with Cutolo Barros LLC and Treasurer of the Monmouth County Young Republicans.  Kinn states, “It is important to get young professionals involved in the environmental concerns facing our coast in light of sea level rise, climate change, and the prospect of increased storms that all cause beach erosion and infrastructure damage.”   Jason commented, “Preserving our coastline is vital to our local economy and is an issue that we can all get behind.  Kinn and I are pleased with the tremendous support we have received from our members.”

Hey Governor Murphy, There’s a MAGA Hat on Your State Flag

Hello Governor!  I noticed your latest bout of uncontrollable virtue signaling (you should see someone about that).  You have removed the state flag of Mississippi from New Jersey’s display of all 50 49 state flags at Liberty State Park.  You are predictably triggered because Mississippi’s flag bears the Second Confederate Navy Jack in the upper flagstaff canton.

So, you oppose secession of the southern states?  Virtue signal received, Governor.  I suspect we all knew that without rekindling the civil war or vacating amnesty given to southern soldiers.
