What do you want to know from the Freeholder candidates?

The Monmouth County Republican Committee will be electing a Freeholder on Saturday, January 14, to fill the vacancy resulting from Freeholder Director Rob Clifton’s election to the State Assembly.

The candidates are Holmdel Deputy Mayor Serena DiMaso, Atlantic Highlands Councilman Peter Doyle, Manalapan Committeeman Ryan Green and Howell Mayor Bob Walsh.

MMM will be reaching out to the candidates this week in preparation of a piece to be published next week prior to the Bayshore Tea Party Group’svetting session on Tuesday the 10th and the Monmouth County Affiliated Republican Club’sCandidates Night on Friday the 13th.

Among the questions I am thinking of asking the candidates are:

Why do you want to be a freeholder?

What is your most significant accomplishment as a municipal office holder?

What do you want to accomplish during your first year as a freeholder?

How has your previous experience as a municipal office holder prepared you to be a county freeholder?

What distinguishes you from your opponents?  Why are you the best candidate?

What else should I ask?   Tell me in the comments.

Will your occupation keep you from attending the weekly daytime Freeholder meetings?

Oh boy, where do we start and how much time are you setting aside for this? You’re going to need a while! Ok, for “Bobby” Walsh, here are some must ask questions:

    1) You trashed Republicans for years and ran as an Independent in Howell after you did not get nominated for office. Now you are trying to run as a Republican. What gives?

    2) You have less than half of the County Committee members from Howell supporting you. What does that say for your candidacy?

    3) You ran several Independent candidates against Republicans. Why and what are you really?

    4) You worked with disgraced Republicans in Wall who tried to overthrow the Republican organization there by backing Independents. What happened and why?

    5) You partnered with disgraced Howell Democrats to work against Republicans. What does that say about you?

    6) You ran with 3 different Independents. 2 resigned mid term and another could not get nominated again. What does that say about who you choose to work with?

    7) You spent tens of thousands of your own money on several campaigns to get elected. Will you again teach into your wallet and finance a Freeholder race?

    8) You openly feud with the Howell Republican Chairman who has endorsed another candidate. What does that say about you?

    9) You have raised taxes over and over again in Howell. What conservative credentials do you have to run on for Freeholder?

    10) You supported Democratic candidates for other offices in Howell and donated money to them in the races against Republicans. What gives?

    11) You stood in front of the people of Howell and pledged you would never, never, ever run for higher office and that you were not using Howell as a stepping stone. Now you run for Freeholder (twice). What is your word worth? Are you not just a typical politician?

    12) Do you think you have been a good Mayor and if so, why?

The people of Howell have had enough of this guy and the “Rocky Balboa” routine. He has been a laughing stock as Mayor and clearly is tired of it and wants to move on. He knows that he can’t win again in Howell so his best bet is to run for Freeholder.

It will take a few months before people really see through the smoke and mirrors and “dopey, regular joe” routine. By then he’ll have been appointed and you’ll all have been duped.

Ask him all of this and don’t be snookered by the “I’m a regular guy crap”.

Good luck and do us all a favor and expose this buffoon. Part of us wants him to go to Freehold so get him the hell out of Howell but that would be even worse for the County!

Specifically what additional steps would you be in favor of taking to encourage shared services of any kind and/or consolidation (of any type at any level)?

The overtime costs at the Monmouth County jail are outrageous. Some corrections officers are making over $200k a year. Please ask the candidates what, if anything, they intend to do about all the overtime that the county pays its employees? Please ask the candidates if they favor privatizing the jail.

What with the high costs of police salaries and benefits, some of which are huge and out of line…

What are your feelings about eventually moving to a County Police Department?

I was curious what Walsh was involved with in Wall Township with Republicans ?

Don’t believe one word from “Truth Hurts From Howell” until he/she identifies his/herself.

When that happens, I’ll happily tell you what is wrong with every one of his/her contentions.

Howell snuck in an ordinance to require that all businesses in Howell comply with Federal Law…The point of that was to subvert the State Law that allows for Medical Marijuana for our state’s sickest.

Way to go Bobby for selling out NJ to DC…

The first 8 things on “Truth hurts” list indicate that Bob Walsh is nobodys puppet and will not be ordered around by a corrupt machine.

I am now considering endorsing the guy.

  13. Truth Hurts from Howell said at 8:48 pm on January 5th, 2012:

    TR,

You must be kidding? His track record is that of a selfish, self serving politician. He did not do these things to buck the system…he did them to ensure he’d be the man. And now he is in trouble and will be bounced out of Howell. So what does he do….he makes it all about him again. He’d sell out anyone to do what is best for him. He’s no maverick fighting the system or the party bosses. He does what is best for him and if that means he partners with Democrats, so be it. He’ll throw Lilian, Curley or anybody else under the bus to save himself. he’s no team player. Its all about Bobby. It is not about any core beliefs like a John Curley who stands up against the system for real. Bobby stands up for what puts Bobby first, period.

That’s why the Truth Hurts from Howell. Those that know him best know the truth. You’ll see.

to help Republicans other than yourself successfuly get elected?( a campaign volunteer, local chair, campaign manager, fundraiser, etc.) what’s your win-loss record?.. ..do you know where the Hall of Records is, i.e., have you ever followed any county issues and/or, attended a freeolder meeting?..for anyone who thinks the county level’s the one to be eliminated, please go to: http://www.visitmonmouth.com, and really read about the many things we would NOT have provided, for the smallest portion of our tax bill, by the way, if it was all left up to the locals or this state!.. if any level needs waking up, shaking up, and probably rolled into bigger pieces, it’s the local level: way too many fiefdoms, at much less cost-effectiveness and efficiencies in service, for the dollar!
