Critical need for O-, O+ and B- Blood Donations

The Central Jersey Blood Center is experience a critical shortage of type O-, O+ and B- blood, according to an appeal the organization emailed to past blood donors this morning.

“We need your help to fill hospital requests to treat local patients. If you are able, please donate at your earliest convenience.”

The Blood Center has donor locations in Shrewsbury, at 494 Sycamore Ave, at the Howell Shopping Plaza at 4068 Route 9, and in Toms River at 1256 Indian Head Road next to Pathmark and Super Cuts.

Additionally, there is a blood drive at Dean’s Natural Food Market at 1119 Route 35 in Ocean Township on Friday, August 24 from 2 p.m. till 7 p.m  and at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson on Saturday, August 30 from 8 a.m till 4 p.m.

Donations can be scheduled online or by calling 1-888-712-5663.

Anyone who donates between now and August 31 will receive a free ticket for the CJBC Summer Raffle.  Prizes include a Norwegian Cruise Line Voucher of $2000 and a $1500 Shopping Spree to the Jersey Shore Premium Outlets.
