Gubernatorial Candidates Debate Tonight

Lt Governor Kim Guadagno and former Goldman Sachs banker Phil Murphy will meet in their final required debate prior to election day tonight at 7 p.m.

The debate, which is being held at William Paterson University, will be broadcast on WCBS-TV in the New York market and WKYW-TV in Philadelphia.  WCBS live feed  the debate here.

Kristine Johnson, of WCBS-TV will be the moderator. The panel will include Jessica Dean, of WKYW-TV in Philadelphia, Alfred Doblin, the editorial page editor for The Record, and Levon Putney, of WCBS Radio.

During the first debate which was held last week at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, Murphy dodged most questions until he declared that he would make New Jersey a sanctuary state.

Since then he has not responded to Guadagno’s challenge of two additional debates and he has avoided talking to members of the media.  He’s been hiding out in the friendly environment of campaign events with former vice presidents Al Gore and Joe Biden, and former Secretary of State John Kerry.

Tonight’s debate is likely the last time that New Jersey voters will have an opportunity to see Murphy in an unscripted environment being asked informed questions on his positions prior to election day on November 7.

The first debate can be viewed here:
