Guadagno Pledges To Not Seek A Second Term Unless She Reduces Property Taxes
West Long Branch, NJ- Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno pledged to the people of New Jersey that she would not seek re-election in four years if she does not keep her promise to reduce the state’s highest in the nation property taxes.
Before several hundred supporters, Guadagno said that over the last eight years as Lt. Governor she has worked to improve New Jersey’s economy. She said that more people work in New Jersey than ever before and that 1000’s of small business started in New Jersey in the last few years.
“To make New Jersey more affordable, we need a governor who will put people before profits, Main Street before Wall Street, and what’s best for New Jersey families ahead of the special interests,” said Guadagno. “This is my pledge to the hardworking people of New Jersey: if I don’t reduce property taxes during my first term as governor, I won’t stand for re-election.”
Her campaign and governorship will be about making New Jersey affordable to families. “Businesses are opening here, but their employees are moving to Pennsylvania and New York because they can’t afford to live here” Guadagno said.
Without mentioning Governor Chris Christie by name, Guadagno put distance between herself and Christie by emphasizing that the campaign will be about her values and principles.
Guadagno said the campaign coming campaign will be a contrast between her “Main Street values” and Democratic nominee Phil Murphy’s “Wall Street”values.
“If we elect Phil Murphy governor of New Jersey, then the only person who will be able to afford to live in New Jersey will be Phil Murphy,” Guadagno told her supporters. “Lets not go back to the days of Goldman Sachs and Jon Corzine. Instead, let’s move forward with policies and actions to make New Jersey more affordable and improve the quality of life for all of us.”
Guadagno will launch a “Main Street Not Wall Street” tour of the state on Wednesday to discuss her plans to cut taxes and make the state more affordable for everyday New Jerseyans. She will be holding an Affordability Round Table in Burlington County with Evesham Mayor Randy Brown on Weds morning followed by a Union Hall visit to IBEW Local 102 in Parsippany in the afternoon.
