Kim Strikes Back

Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli has been hammering Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno for months with negative mailings and videos.  Now, four weeks before the June 6 gubernatorial primary, the Guadagno team is punching back to make sure the race doesn’t tighten as Republican voters start paying closer attention.

The Guadagno campaign released a web video today which will run on social media (and MoreMonmouthMusings) to targeted audiences.  The video, Flip Flopping Jack Ciattarelli exposes the assemblyman for flip-flopping on key issues during the first gubernatorial debate at Stockton University on Tuesday night.

“Looks like Jack Ciattarelli got his flip flops out a little early this year,” said Guadagno Campaign Manager Dave Huguenel. “During the debate, Jack either forgot his positions on key issues or is purposely flip-flopping to mislead voters. Either way, it underscores the fact that he’s just a typical Trenton politician while Kim Guadagno is the only candidate in this race who will create a better New Jersey.”

In addition to the video, a mailer arrived today clubbing “High-Tax Jack Ciattarelli” for supporting a higher gas tax, supporting a higher income tax, voting with Democrats to expand the sales tax and voting against tax credits for small businesses.

  1. They need to up their game. said at 9:44 pm on May 13th, 2017:

Jack’s stuff is quite well done. Kim’s folks need to understand that she is tainted by Christie, needs to separate from him more, and, that being a military mom and ” one of us” is not gonna do it.. she might as well get used to fighting for every vote now, because November, and Murphy’s money, will be brutal.( Was surprised to hear what a lightweight speaker Murphy seems to be- not that it matters, sadly..)

    You think so?

If I was running Jack’s campaign I would have done more earlier to introduce him to the voters before attacking Kim.

I don’t think voters’ disgust with Christie is transferable to Kim.

I could be wrong. We’ll know if a few weeks.

Chatty Jack sent out a mailing where he promised to eliminate sanctuary cities in NJ. Sounds good, but Kim actually walked the walk. As sheriff candidate in 2007 Kim Guadagno called for the implementation of “Section 287 (g)” in the County Jail. This would reveal the immigration status of inmates before they were released from custody. Monmouth County was accepted into the 287 (g) program in 2009. So while Jack chats, Kim acts.

Kim as sheriff had the ability to enact a program such as 287(g). I am sure if Jack were sheriff, he too would have enacted it as well.

Kim also says in her mailer against Jack, that he supported the gas tax. The last vote in the Assembly–the one that counts–shows Jack voted AGAINST the gas tax. Kim said nothing until it was passed!

  5. My guess is said at 9:35 pm on May 14th, 2017:

there will be a low primary turnout, so, the party faithful make an effort, and they usually go for the familiar name or incumbent. Jack is probably right to go negative at first, to tie Kim to Chris, so now as a close, he’s playing the successful business guy, a la Trump, and is gaining a bit, but I still think Kim gets it- but it might be better for her if she didn’t, in the long run..

  6. Another point said at 10:19 pm on May 14th, 2017:

to consider, is the blatant negative press the President gets daily, in all the main NJ papers, plus a ton of negative voter sentiment toward Trump, who lost NJ by double digits..add to that, the 20% popularity of GOP Christie, and I can’t see any Republican winning in this state, for the next two or three decades: we are mini-NY and mini-California, nearly broke, and this electorate just keeps on voting for more self- inflicted and Democrat-inflicted wounds to our wallets, and quality of life, in ever- increasing numbers in this state- they simply can’t equate how they vote, with their hostility toward anyone Republican and their continual personal situation dissatisfaction, making themselves one of the grumpier, dumber voting blocks, in the country!

which Republican candidate is going to be out working to get OTHER people elected to the state senate and assembly? For my whole life the excuse for high taxes, poor schools, urban sprawl, terrible roads and every other negative in NJ has been blamed/credited to Democrats. Selfish Christie had the opportunity, twice, with huge popularity on his side, to campaign for and change the make up of Trenton politics. Instead the selfish and arrogant fatso took the easy way out by not changing a single seat and kicking the can down the road with another “I cant do anything…. Democrats….”.

So which Republican candidate is going to bring with them a Republican majority in both senate and assembly so that we stop hearing excuses and Democrats stopping raising taxes, offering give aways to illegals, tearing down forests for “affordable housing”? the campaogn talking points are meaningless if Democrats still control Trenton.
