Red Bank Councilman Compares Rep. Chris Smith, Catholics To Arizona Shooter

By Art Gallagher

Red Bank Councilman Ed Zipprich (D) compared Congressman Chris Smith and a planned Catholic procession organized by the Diocese of Trenton from St. Anthony of Padua Church to the Planned Parenthood clinic on Newman Springs Rd to the deranged man who shot Arizona Congressman Gabby Giffords and 18 others, killing six people, according to a story on RedBankGreen.

“In light of what happened to Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, we need to pay attention to a matter of public safety,” Zipprich said, “especially since Congressman Smith has offered a bill to redefine rape.”

Zipprich’s comments were made while the council was approving permits for two dozen public events, including the Catholic Red Bank Witness for Life.

Zipprich abstained from voting on the permit which was approved by the council.

Art, you are a pussy to delete those comments that are critical of your sponsors (e.g., Mike Halfacre).

    You are a coward.

WHY ISN’T THIS GUY BEING SHOWN THE DOOR?

Does the Asbury Park Press have this story yet?

  3. Ed Zipprich said at 6:45 pm on February 15th, 2011:

No I didn’t say that Art. You are clearly repeating what Mayor Halfacre crafted in his comment on redbankgreen. I merely said I had a concern for the safety of the public on both sides of the issue. Times have changed in America and I am looking out for the safety of all people.

    Thanks for commenting Ed.

    Did RedBankGreen quote you accurately?

By the way, Congressman Smith is not proposing legislation that will redefine rape. Did you say he is?

What does the Diocese’s event have to do with the Arizona shooting?

Why did you single out the Diocese’s event and not the other two dozen or so (per RBG) events?

I just got an email from a friend who has been helping with this rally for 10 years, NEVER a problem.

He’s comment was valid considering the rhetoric concerning this issue on the right. We should be careful how these matters are discussed. Lighting a fire under the comments is at best bad form.

“Invoking the recent shooting of Arizona Rep. Gabby Giffords and a push by New Jersey Rep. Chris Smith to have the federal government redefine rape in an effort to limit access to abortions, Zipprich expressed concern that the march might attract someone bent on violence.”

Did RBG misrepresent what Councilman Zipperich said? Has a retraction request been made?

I didn’t “craft” anything. The direct quote and representation of the comments speak for themselves.

this much effort was spent on “redefining” how to really cut our taxes, and their spending, and the waste of our dollars, at ALL levels, we’d certainly be better off!.. BTW, for those who follow the issue, some recent statistics/projections have shown that, since the legalization of abortion in ’73, by age 35, some 40% of American women will have had an abortion, at some point- this is stunningly sad, and, if so,one must conclude that those who keep fighting to keep “choice”, and who want to force taxpayers to keep paying for that “choice”, agree that it really is another (sick)method of birth control.. which is why, other statistics and polling have shown that there actually has (finally) been some change of hearts and minds in America, and that more people are now considering themselves “pro-life”, than ever before!. many believe that any society that devalues human life, either at the beginning or at the end, has/will, suffer!

I would appreciate when you quote facts you site the quote and what publication your are quoting from. Ideology is not based on facts.

  10. exgci said at 11:34 pm on February 15th, 2011:

At a time in our history when a lawmaker is trying to pass a law that allows the murder of doctors as justified, and there is a war against reproductive rights, you may want to reconsider comments that incite ideology.

  11. Hahaha said at 11:56 pm on February 15th, 2011:

“War against reproductive rights”?? Who came up with this? I think people on both sides of the aisle agree you can reproduce yourself whenever you want, how often you want, with whomever you want.

  12. exgci said at 12:02 am on February 16th, 2011:

A stunning new assault on reproductive rights: A law under consideration in South Dakota would expand the definition of “justifiable homicide” to include killings that are intended to prevent harm to a fetus—a move that could make it legal to kill doctors who perform abortions.

must be the part those types of “doctors” forget to say, when taking the oath to begin “practicing” medicine..perhaps the proposed So. Dakota measure is there first,as a thought-provoker.. if it’d hurt to kill such a “doctor,” try for once, and imagine how a helpless human fetus feels, as it’s brains are being sucked out, with no anesthesia.. I do believe this issue will continue to be a “never the twain shall meet” situation..comes down to,either you can “get” that abortion is basically the most disgusting “medical” procedure one human can inflict upon another, or you’re only about what’s “convenient” for you..

It’s disgusting liberal anti-Christians like Ed Zipprich that used hate/hysterial tactics to bring this country to it’ politically correct stupidness. Now we are a joke in the global arena and citizens are taxed over and beyond to support liberal socialism like abortion. I thought people like Zipprich lived in Brooklyn. If we stand by and listen to this guy bash a Catholic procession but not bash the DNC tactics of lesbians making fun of Nun, or the attack on the family in family courts, then shame on us. Zipprich is an example of wacked out liberals that have gone on too long, unchecked.
