The “Acting” my soon get dropped from Christopher Gramiccioni’s title.  Governor Chris Christie has nominated the Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor for a full term.  If confirmed by the Democratic State Senate, Gramiccioni will have a five year term.

Gramiccioni, an alumni of Christie’s U.S. Attoney’s Office, joined the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office in 2011 as First Assistant Prosecutor.  He was promoted to Acting Prosecutor on July 1, 2012 after his predecessor, Peter Warshaw became a Superior Court Judge.

A JAG Officer in the Naval Reserve, Gramiccioni was deployed in Afghanistan for seven months in 2013 and 2014.

Freeholder Lillian Burry, the County Liaison to the Prosecutor’s Office, said she was very pleased by Gramiccioni’s nomination. “Christopher is an exceptional prosecutor,” Burry said. “More that that, he is an exceptional human being.  I have the highest regard for him.  His appointment is long overdue.”

Monmouth County Democratic Chairman Vin Gopal told MMM that he would not be making any calls to his friends in Trenton to block Gramiccioni’s confirmation. This, despite the fact that should a Democrat replace Christie in 2018, as most politicos on both sides of the aisle expect, Gopal would be instrumental in choosing the next prosecutor.

Gramiccioni and his family are featured in a USAA commercial that is currently running.

Is there a reason that he has been in the role as “acting” for so long? Why wasn’t he nominated for a full term sooner?
