Keansburg Man Convicted Of Armed Robbery, Kidnapping While Impersonating A Cop

Steven P. Rinck, 49, of Seabreeze Way in Keansburg has spent the past four Christmases in jail.  Given his conviction returned by a Monmouth County jury this week, he is likely to spend the next twenty Christmases locked up as well.

On October 21, 2012 Rinck gained entry to a to a Seeley Ave home by claiming he was a NJ State Police Trooper armed with a handgun and a search warrant.  He stole cash and drugs from the male resident and a friend with bad timing who arrived during the robbery.

Then Rinck forced the men, at gunpoint, into a vehicle and took them for a ride looking for more drugs. He released one of the men and kept the other against his will while claiming to be a member of the State Police Gun Trafficking Unit. Rinck eventually released the victim who reported the incident to the Keansburg Police.

He was arrested on October 23, 2012 and has been held in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, unable to come up with $550,000 bail, since his arrest.

A Monmouth County jury convicted Rinck of on four counts of fourth degree Impersonating a Law Enforcement Officer, two counts of first degree Armed Robbery, one count of second degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, one count of second degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, two counts of fourth degree Aggravated Assault by Pointing a Firearm, two counts of third degree Terroristic Threats, two counts of second degree Kidnapping, and one count of second degree Certain Persons Not to Have Firearms, according to a statement by Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

Rinck is scheduled for sentencing on May 24, 2016, before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge John R. Tassini.

    you should be ashamed of yourself for posting this on CHRISTMAS not an ounce of respect shown to release this on a holiday none the less or any common decency for the family whose affected by this situation.
