One dead, one critical in Asbury Park shooting
Jamar Small, 24, was gunned down and killed on the 1000 block of Summerfield Avenue in Asbury Park on Sunday, according to a statement by Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni. Another male shooting victim whose name was not released by Gramiccioni remains in critical condition at an undisclosed local hospital.
Small was a recent graduate of Texas Southern University and the quarterback of the school’s football team.
Asbury Park Police responded to multiple 911 calls Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, at approximately 11:56 am, reporting shots fired in the 1000 block of Summerfield Avenue. Police arrived on scene to find two men who suffered apparent gunshot wounds. Both individuals were transported by the Asbury Park Fire Department to a local hospital.
Small was pronounced dead at 2:56 pm.
A joint investigation into the shooting by the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office and the Asbury Park Police Department is active and ongoing.
No one has been arrested in connection with the Homicide at this time.
