Runoff Election Will Determine Partisan Control of Manasquan
By Art Gallagher
Voters will go to the polls in Manansquan on Tuesday to choose a member of the borough’s council. The November 2 election resulted in a tie, after a recount, between Republican Robert Ferrante and Democrat Owen McCarthy.
If Ferrante is the winner on Tuesday, Republicans will lead the borough council with a 4-2 majority. Should McCarthy win, the council will be divided 3-3, with Democratic Mayor George Dempsey breaking the tie.
Sheriff Shaun Golden and Freeholder Tom Arnone braved the elements today to hit the campaign trail with Ferrante. Golden said, “We need to swing Manasquan into the Republican column. The voters deserve a fiscally conservative councilman like Bobby Ferrante.”
What about a sheriff’s office thats fiscally conservative and responsible?? What about doing something like the 287(i) Immigration Policy?? Lets re-negotiate with the feds for a higher rate of pay for illegal aliens detained there. If the feds don’t agree, lets ship them off to a federal detention facility.
What about making a public declaration as to what is going on with a growing pension scandal? It’s a shame Monmouth County was the epicenter of academic fraud with the Freehold Regional HS district phoney baloney doctorate degree issue–now the epicenter of pension fraud???
Can I be assured the Sheriff’s budget will not be over budget as in years past?
Lets batten down the hatches, stay in the office, and see if this department can indeed be fiscally responsible.
back to the topic: Manasquan’s one of those interesting little towns that can go either way, obviously, but really ought to be “R,” as an org.,they’ve had their growing pains, but do hope Mr. Ferrante can make it..way to go, Shaun and Tom, for reaching/helping out!!!
