Bellew, Gonzalez, Boracchia Attack LD 13 Incumbents, Blogs

Bayshore Tea Party Group co-founder Barbara Gonzalez pinning Sen. Joe Kyrillos during happier times.

After over three weeks of media silence, the Bellew for Senate campaign issued a scathing 920 word press release this afternoon accusing State Senator Joe Kyrillos and Assembly members Amy Handlin and Declan O’Scanlon of hypocrisy, liberalism, slander, ducking debates and being mean.

Also blasted by Bellew Jersey, was “an organized army of cronies (that) have waged a campaign of personal attacks and character assassination on members of the Tea Party.”

“They have used surrogates in a legion of non-journalistic blogs and Internet attack machines to call the Tea Party “nut jobs.” To the Tea Party, this closely resembles Obama campaign style tactics of personal destruction. In fact, it mirrors what the IRS is now in trouble for doing – trying to silence their critics. Conservatives know this destroys any credibility Joe Kyrillos, Declan O’Scanlan, and Amy Handlin and their liberal Republican establishment team could possibly claim to have in support of the patriots fighting for limited government.”

The release, which was sent out by and paid for by Bellew for State Senate, quotes Senate Candidate Leigh-Ann Bellew, Bayshore Tea Party Group co-founder Barbara Gonzalez, and Assembly Candidate Steven Boracchia.   Assembly Candidate Edna Walsh was mentioned but not quoted in the statement which can be read in its entirety here.

The Tea Party Group and their candidates were ostensibly set off by a joint press release that Kyrillos, Handlin and O’Scanlon sent out on Friday expressing their outrage over the recent IRS scandal over targeting Tea Party groups throughout the nation for intense scrutiny and demanding that the Obama Administration be held accountable for the IRS’s behavior.  The 13th District Legislator’s release can be read in its entirety here.

By my reading, the Bellew/Bayshore Tea Party team’s complaints don’t match up with the Legislator’s release, which did not defend Tea Party groups, but rather condemned the IRS actions and the Obama Administration’s suspected complicity.

I assume the unnamed “non-journalistic blogs and Internet attack machines” means MMM and CNJPolitics.  I can’t speak for or about CNJPolitics, but I stand by the fairness with which MMM has covered the LD 13 primary.

  1. I bet the Incumbents are Referencing the Tea Party said at 6:21 pm on May 20th, 2013:

I would bet that those GOP Incumbents that bashed the Tea Party, are starting to reference their name and ride their coattails after the IRS debacle.

So they complain that Joe and Declan don’t stand up for conservatives, but when they criticize the IRS and the Obama administration for targeting conservatives, Joe and Declan are called hypocrites….

Joe has scored a 100 on the American Conservative Union for their 2012 State Legislative Ratings. Declan has been a champion for personal liberty by battling red light cameras. That sounds pretty conservative to me.

Joe and I may not agree on every single issue, but this is what I know: his door is always open for input, to learn about whatever issue is of concern and then from there make the best decision. That is why Joe is a good state Senator!

That I Am Not A Surrogate Enlisted By Anyone. You Want To Play This Game, Then “Bring It On.”

The Question Is, Why Aren’t YOU Attacking The IRS & It’s Liberal Cohorts In Washington Instead Of Attacking Your Own.

James now that is a very good point!!

  5. The BSTPG Press Release said at 6:59 pm on May 20th, 2013:

And Bellew reeks of flacid desperation.

The Tea Party candidates can’t raise money other than their own loans to their failing campaigns…

They put out a bogus poll without releasing the internals like REAL polling groups do and expect us to believe that people are falling all over themselves to vote for
    Bellew.

They inflate their credentials and Bellew wants us to believe she is fiscally responsible after racking up $140,000 in credit card debt on 20 CREDIT CARDS!

So, they attack those candidates that are closest to their own beliefs and let the Democrats get away with murder.

    Sad little woman Bellew is.

That press release looked accurate to me. What was it again you all didn’t like? Oh I’m sorry, it must have been the part about the truth.

A shout out to Charlie. His door might always be open but what about his mind and his beliefs? Doors open don’t mean anything. That type of guy retail smile and nod his head all day long as to speak to him. But he already knows what he wants to do. He simply plays the political game. Keep kissing them babies, they win you votes.

  7. I see that said at 8:56 pm on May 20th, 2013:

The Equine Imbecile is back for another beatdown.

STILL don’t remember your own worse than RINO primary candidate for Senator last year?

You know, the one Joe beat hands down.

So, “riddle me this.” What’s better, a candidate that scored a 100 with the American Conservative Union that will at least listen to you, or one who lied about her credentials; claims to be a fiscal conservative and went bankrupt to the tune of $140,000 with 20 credit cards all while enjoying a time share in Vegas.

That’s lost money that got passed on to consumers and their credit cards via higher interest rates and fees.

Keep opening your mouth and I’ll beat you down every time because all you are is a political wannabee who thinks she knows something.

    slanderous? lies?

Are they talking about their own flyers and press releases?

Where is any documentation or any proof that Ms. Bellew ever passed a Bar Exam?

Where is any denial of the bankruptcy petition caused by consumer over spending, including to a Las Vegas vacation time share?

The bankruptcy petition specifically states that the “debts are primarily consumer debts”, defined in US Codes as “incurred by an individual primarily for a personal, family or household purpose”. Obviously, this was not a bankruptcy for a failed business in a bad economy.

Not even a denial of the Monmouth County democrat chair’s confirmation of being requested to assist in fundraising and other areas, as reported by Art Gallagher in this blog, was mentioned by the author of this press release.

Only a pitiful attempt to attack those who have been fighting for the cause long before they even arrived on the scene.

And, I wonder, why haven’t these people even stood up to condemn the IRS abuses which have now come to light? I really have to wonder just whose side are they on?

Congratulations to Joe Kyrillos, Amy Handlin and Declan O’Scanlon for standing up against this well documented government abuse of power. Too bad their opponents have remained silent on this issue. Silence, in this case, is acceptance.

And this I love, “It is even important to remember that the people’s money was used for this attack, when you consider it was published on the official New Jersey State Senate website.” (per their press release). What “attack” on the Tea Party? This was supporting all the taxpayers (Tea Party, Patriots, Pro-Life, Catholics and Baptists) who were faced with IRS intimidation and governmental abuse of power. THIS IS WHAT PUBLIC OFFICIALS SHOULD DO … TAKE A STAND AGAINST ABUSE OF POWER!

These have not been “personal” attacks. These are clear facts that have yet to be denied or explained away. Blaming others is an attempt at distraction; where is the conservative principle of personal responsibility?

One thing they must learn is that hysterical responses do not cut it in the public arena. Candidates must be properly vetted before they are supported by any type of group, be they Tea Party, MoveOn or a Political Party.

One small point in Politics 101; in order to achive the change one claims to be fighting for, one needs both credibility and the ability to be elected in November.

Unfortunately, the hysteria exhibited confirms the existence of neither.

Smaller government, reduced government spending and lower taxes must happen if our nation is to survive. We need a robust economy where every able bodied individual is able to find a job. Agenda 21, unfortunately, appears on no radar screen of the general public. (It is a very serious issue not even understood by the general public or most political insiders.)

The best candidates to lead the GOP into the November elections are Joe Kyrillos, Amy Handlin and Declan O’Scanlon. Period.

Freedom is never free. We must pay the price, we must sacrifice, for our Liberty. WE SHOULD BE FIGHTING THE REAL OPPONENTS OF LIBERTY, not each other.

The fact is, if we don’t stand together, then surely we will all face the rampant abuse of governmental power so prevalent in the current administration in Washington, DC.

By your statement you obviously do NOT know what the truth is. Go and eat your oats tainted with lies, unexplained education history, bankruptcy’s and have some tea to finish it off.

The Bayshore Tea Party is a disgrace. Barbara is a bigger disgrace and her crony candidates are the laughing stock of all who live in Monmouth County.

I know they will get hammered in this election and go back to doing what they do best which is mouthing off and not having any winning candidates to forward their agenda.

@Tom Stokes – Thank you for standing up for the truth! I am a Pro-Life, Pro-NRA Conservative who agrees 100% with you! Kyrillos, Handlin and O’Scanlon are the best choices on June 4th for the 13th LD!

    Rangers,
I come beating advice for the Bellew campaign: press releases should only be a maximum of three paragraphs and 300 words, including contact information.

    It’s morphing time!

  12. @Zordon said at 5:02 pm on May 21st, 2013:

Well then, qualified candidates with professional campaign teams would know that wouldn’t they.

But then, Bellew and team are not qualified candidates. Babs is not qualified to run a campaign for dog catcher and that so called professional campaign manager in Texas sure don’t know how to do polling.

BTW, Bellew doesn’t take advice from anyone. She’s her own one person wrecking crew.
