Dr. Steven Landers, MD, CEO of VNA Health Group, administers the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to Dr. Terry Shlimbaum, MD, Chief Medical Officer of the VNA Community Health Centers on Saturday, Jan 2 at the Asbury Park Community Health Center

Over 700 healthcare workers in Monmouth County received the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine during the holiday break as public health officials scrambled to ramp up their infrastructure to widely administer the shots as they become available.

Over 250 vaccines were given at the VNA Community Health Centers in Asbury Park and Freehold over the New Years weekend, according to Christopher Rinn, CEO of VNACJ-CHC. During the week between Christmas and New Years the VNA Community Health Centers administered over 300 shots at their Asbury Park, Freehold, Keyport and Red Bank locations.

The Monmouth County Board of Health vaccinated 204 individuals between Christmas and New Years Eve, according to Monmouth County Commission Director Tom Arnone. Arnone, Deputy Director Sue Kiley and Sheriff Shaun Golden have a press conference scheduled for Tuesday morning, January 5, at 9 am at the Middletown Fire Department, 336 Route 35, to provide vaccine information and CARES Act funding updates.

Vaccines are also being administered at Ocean Health Initiatives in Neptune and the Shoprite Pharmacies in Morganville and Hazlet.
