Perry asks Grewal to open Henry Hudson Trail

Middletown Mayor Tony Perry has written New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal requesting the “immediate and full reversal” of his directive to close the Henry Hudson Trail.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office forwarded the Attorney General’s instructions that the trail be closed over the weekend to police departments of towns that host the trail, Perry told MMM.

Atlantic Highlands Police Chief David Rossbach posted an announcement of the Murphy Administration’s closure of the trail on facebook on Sunday afternoon:

In his letter to Grewal, Perry noted that the trail is not used only for recreation but that it is the only safe option along Route 36 for pedestrians walking to public transportation, grocery stores and pharmacies.
