Hanlon outlines changes in election procedures

Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon outlined changes to the procedures for upcoming elections and candidate deadlines at a press conference on Wednesday morning in Freehold.

The municipal elections scheduled for May 18 in Allenhurst, Deal, Keansburg and Loch Arbour will be conducted via Vote-By-Mail ballots only. All registered voters in those towns will receive a Vote-By-Mail ballot with a postage paid return envelope.

For candidates running for any office in the Republican or Democrat primaries on June 2, the filing deadline for nominating petitions remains March 30.

However, per Governor Murphy’s Executive Order, petition signatures can be collected online for this election. Petitions are to be accepted electronically by either the NJ Secretary of State, the County Clerk or the Municipal Clerk of of the candidate’s town, depending upon the office being sought.

Hanlon has posted instructions for candidates circulating and submitting nominating petitions here.
