2 fatal shootings in Asbury Park

Gun violence erupted on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning with two shootings that resulted in two reported deaths, according to a member of the law enforcement community.

The first incident, which involved an Asbury Park Police officer, occurred at around 10:30 p.m. at the area of 7th Ave and Webb St. The Attorney General’s Shooting Response Task Force is investigation this incident.

The second shooting, which occurred in the early morning hours on Wednesday on Sewall Ave east of Main Street in being investigated as a homicide.

Christopher Swendeman, spokesperson for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office declined to comment on the ongoing investigations.
