The Long Branch police vehicle was stopped on the tracks when the train struck it on the track, an NJ TRANSIT spokesperson told Patch.
Trains on the North Jersey Coast Line will be delayed up to 30 minutes in both directions, NJ TRANSIT announced. Nobody was injured, including the officer or the 110 customers and crew on the train.
Avoid the area of Brighton Avenue and the train tracks, Long Branch police announced at about 11:20 a.m. Traffic in the area will be slow-moving for the next few hours as NJ TRANSIT conducts its investigation.
