O’Scanlon: Kiley and Scharfenberger are the right choice for Freeholder
By Senator Declan O’Scanlon
As we prepare to go to the polls next Tuesday, I encourage Monmouth County residents to cast your votes for Freeholder for my friends Sue Kiley and Gerry Scharfenberger.
Sue Kiley and Gerry Scharfenberger have each demonstrated their abilities to deliver extraordinary government services while saving the taxpayers money. Throughout their lives, they have conducted themselves with dignity and integrity.
As Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Hazlet, Sue has held the line on municipal spending while expanding services for seniors and veterans. Her leadership in economic development is bringing new businesses and jobs to the highway commercial properties on Route 35 and 36.
Sue’s career as a healthcare professional, both as a nurse and an executive has provided her with the passion and insight we need from our leaders as we continue to battle the addiction epidemic.
Gerry’s stellar record in Middletown where he served six terms as mayor and two terms as deputy mayor speaks volumes about his ability. One of the largest and certainly one of the best run municipalities in New Jersey, Middletown has time and again earned national accolades as a great place to live, raise a family and to do business.
Freeholder is an important job. In Monmouth County, our five member board oversees an almost $500 million budget that provides critical infrastructure and services for our residents.
We are fortunate to have such outstanding people as Sue and Gerry stepping up to run for the job. I urge all Monmouth County voters to join me in voting for them when you cast your ballot.
