Hanlon unveils Veterans discount program

IMG_0154 (800x488)Asbury Park-Monmouth County military veteran are receiving discounts from local businesses participating in a new program, “Honoring our Heroes” that was announced by County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon in Asbury Park yesterday.

“More than 33,000 veterans call Monmouth County home,” said Hanlon. “We want our Veterans to know that we appreciate their service, so my staff and I have created a Veterans Discount Guidebook that is available to every local veteran who has an Veterans ID card issued by the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office.”

The 20-page guidebook includes a listing of stores, restaurants and other businesses throughout Monmouth County who are committed to offering product and service discounts to Vets.  The business listing will also be published and updated on the County Clerk’s website.  The guidebook is currently available to Veterans and the County Clerk’s Office in Freehold and the County Connection on Rt 66 in Neptune.

The ceremony announcing the program was hosted by TAKA, a Cookman Ave Japanese restaurant that is a participant in the program.  TAKA and Purple Glaze, the Summerfield Ave bakery, are the first two Asbury Park restaurants to join the program.

“Participating businesses are receiving specially designed window clings, donated by member of the Asbury Park VFW, for placement in their establishments,” Hanlon said.  TAKA and Purple Glaze received their window clings at the ceremony.

Business are welcome and encouraged to join the program by contacting the County Clerk’s Office in Freehold.

Veterans who are Monmouth County residents can get their free County issued ID cards by visiting the Clerk’s Office on Mechanic Street in Freehold or the Monmouth County Connection in Neptune on Route 66.  Vets should bring their NJ Driver’s License and their original DD-214 Report of Separation.  Photocopies of the DD-214 will not be accepted.

“We are preparing for Veterans Day ceremonies and we wanted to have a program that will connect our Veterans to their communities,” said Hanlon.  “Honoring our Heroes” does that by engaging businesses in a visible way.”

During the ceremony Hanlon acknowledged the leadership of VFW Harold Daley Post 1333, Asbury Park, for their assistance in creating the program.

    Ah come on now!

How wonderfull that she announces something that already exists just days before an election.

You would thing as the hand pick Christie designee that she woul be above this pandering. But then again, you would think she was above putting office furniture ahaead of taxpayer services – and we were wrong.

I vote “R” but not for her!

suddenly “discovering”historic documents, right after being sworn in: what bothers me the most about some of these people is their mistaken belief that nothing existed or ever worked right, til they and their wonderful-ness walked in the door- the other one, is the “watchdog,” who will throw anybody under the bus, just for a headline- whether all the facts are there, or not.. way to start the decline?..face it, it’s a dead year, no one really cares, all the incumbents will win, so time to get over yourselves, and just start really earning the damn pay checks..and, figuring out how to start raising enough money to avoid disaster in 2016,when all the crazies and libs come out of the woodwork, and really mess things up, even more, from top to bottom!..
