This is just plain crazy to remove those aircraft before a replacement is ready. The President has no idea of the military importance of this base.

For him though, anything to degrade the military works.

In efforts to keep the base, its a very positive thing for those efforts that the President is visiting. I would suggest though that whomever is President is relying on the branches of the military to decide how and where they are going to spend their budget $$$ based on their needs.

With that said, after the Fort Monmouth fiasco, its the responsibility of the President and Congress to make sure the information provided by those military leaders is thoroughly vetted and is in fact accurate.

The question still unanswered about the information (about phantom cost savings to close Fort Monmouth) provided to BRAC by the Army/DOD is: was the inaccurate information BRAC was given done so intentionally in order to achieve a desired outcome (close the base) or whether it was done just because of sheer incompetence on the Army/DID’s part? Still waiting for an answer on that one.
