Supreme Court allows Texas to require photo IDs for voting

Supreme CourtWASHINGTON — A divided Supreme Court early Saturday morning let a new Texas voter ID law take effect, the latest ruling in a series of decisions on voting laws in the states just weeks before midterm elections. The court’s decision means Texas voters starting Oct. 20 must present one of several forms of photo identification. “We…

you gotta give them credit for standing up and fighting the desecration of the country.Rick Perry’d make a terrific President,IMHO.

  2. Bob English said at 10:39 am on October 19th, 2014:

Only problem is that 600,000 registered voters in Texas do not have a state issued id such as a drivers license or gun permit. That group can include seniors (including veterans) and those that can not afford a car/insurance. Unbelievably college photo id’s do not qualify in Texas so its pretty obvious that this is about making sure certain groups of people to not vote rather than dealing with a problem (same day voter impersonation) that is so rare that it is basically non existent.

If they want to go after a type of voter fraud that is actually know to exist, take a look at absentee ballots and messenger ballots.

Where does that figure of 600,000 voters without valid ID come from? Any place legitimate?

Correction Bob English – this law is not to make sure certain groups don’t vote, it’s designed to keep you Democrats from cheating and stealing more elections. Want to know why the polls had to be kept open later in Ohio and Virginia in 2012? So the Democrats could find out who hadn’t voted and get their union flunkies to the polls to vote for Obama. Ever wonder how Democrats win counties where there are more votes than registered voters? ever wonder how Obama got 100 % of the vote in some precincts in Philadelphia – a statistical impossibility? Its called voter fraud my friend. Its real and the Democrats are counting on it

  5. Bob English said at 1:03 am on October 20th, 2014:

proud…even if what you said were true, none of it has anything to do with same day voter impersonation which is the reason given for needing photo id to vote. If there is a problem with who is on the voter roles, that is up to the particular state and county to clean up.

Speaking of lines at polls, its interesting that in states such as Florida and Ohio where there were lines for hours (especially in urban areas) in 2004 for people trying to vote, state legislatures took bipartisan action to implement early voting so that in the future people would not be disenfranchised by having to wait for hours to vote. However once those same legislatures realized that early voters in 2008 had favored Obama, they did everything the could to cut back on or eliminate early voting. So for the first time in our nations history, rather than trying to make it easier for people to vote, Republicans have been going out of their way trying to make it harder for some people to vote.

If you have evidence of cheating and stealing, please contact the FBI. As mentioned above, while certain types of voter fraud do exist (especially with the use of absentee and messenger ballots) same day voter impersonation is so rare that it is basically non existent.

First of all Bob, all of it is true. Second, how is it that you need photo ID to rent a car, get on a plane, enter an office building, register for food stamps, but not to vote? Funny how you democrats don’t complain that having to show photo ID for welfare discriminates against the poor, but to vote, it somehow does. It’s so simple and so basic. Voting is so important and precious, is it so difficult for you Democrats to understand the need to be sure that people who go to the polls are actually who they say they are? Like I said, anyone who is against voter ID just wants to be able to cheat.

  7. Bob English said at 9:06 am on October 20th, 2014:

You obviously don’t understand that many seniors don’t have valid photo id’s if they no longer drive (or did not in the first place) and many people who are in low paying jobs don’t have drivers licenses if they can not afford a car and insurance. And if you are barely making enough $$$ to feed your family and pay the rent, you are probably not getting on very many airplanes. With that said, its a totally ignorant statement to say that people who are against voter ID’s “just want to be able to cheat.” That’s the cheating (same day voter impersonation) where there is practically zero evidence that it even exists.

And by the way, nobody is against having to show an id, the issue is that millions of registered voters do not have photo id’s.

Most of the right wing voter conspiracy theories from the 2012 election were long ago debunked on numerous fact check sites. As mentioned above, even if they were true (as in the case of Obama receiving 100% of the vote in precincts), they had nothing to do with same day voter impersonation which is the non existent excuse given as to why photo id’s (and in many cases state issued id’s are needed).

My take on the 2012 election, is that prior to election day, people where believing the polls that were telling them what they wanted to hear regarding the outcome and after the results were in figure the only way that Romney could have possibly lost is if there was massive voter fraud all over the USA on behalf of Obama.

  9. Left wing conspiracy said at 9:32 pm on October 20th, 2014:

Bob, the left wing conspiracy about there being a right wing conspiracy has also been debunked. there is in fact no right wing conspiracy to keep veterans, the elderly or minority groups suppressed. the only suppression is left wing policy that perpetuates poverty in poor areas including white, black or other poor area. left wing policy and wconomics have failed the poor and middle class over and over again, the left including you Bob English, offer no solitions that advance the plight of the poor and middle class. Google it, what i say is true, the left wing conspiracy is to keep voters under, mis, and ill informed as aeans to bolster their own political clout. Bob English is wrong.

  10. Bob English said at 9:57 am on October 21st, 2014:

@Left wing conspiracy…..I did not say there was a “right wing conspiracy”….was just pointing out that the groups that you just happened to mention are the ones most likely not to have qualifying photo id’s under several states new/proposed photo id laws and would be the ones most likely to be disenfranchised from voting.

You can call me “left wing” or “left” all day long and I will wear that label if it means standing up for people who would not be able to vote over a imaginary problem (same day voter impersonation) that is so rare its basically non existent.

  11. Sancho Panza said at 11:10 am on October 21st, 2014:

So it stands that “Bob English” has absolutely no source for the statement about 600,000 Texans voting without any ID. No surprise there. Just one more instance of pulling absolute malarkey out of thin air.

  12. @The Left Winger said at 11:40 am on October 21st, 2014:

Bob, you stand for nothing but your elitist left wing friends. You accuse the right of an “imaginary problem” and then you have the gall to make up the imaginary problem that veterans don’t have a photo id, where is that news story about hundreds of thousands of veterans who all lost their military id, the one they need to get their VA benefits, shop at the base stores, etc? It’s an imaginary problem and you know it, yet you lie to veterans because your elitist friends tell the same lies. Also, your implied racism that black people don’t have photo ids is equally offensive. In typical left-wing nut job fashion, you repeat the lies and racist stereotypes which do nothing but help people like you get into power and keep the people you pretend to represent repressed. Democrats and the left have done nothing to address poverty, ever, and offer no policy or platform that help move this nation, and ALL of it’s people, forward.
