The National Review is quoting anonymous sources that say State Senator Joe Kyrillos will not be a candidate in the Special Primary for U.S. Senate on August 13.

“He’s one of Jersey’s leading Republicans, but this campaign doesn’t make sense for him right now,” says a source close to the governor. “I bet he’ll run statewide again, but he won’t rush it.”

Kyrillos told MMM Wednesday afternoon that he was not pursuing the seat, but would not speculate about what he would do if Governor Chris Christie asked him to run or accept the temporary appointment.

Petitions for candidates in the Democratic and Republican Special Primaries are due on Monday afternoon, June 10. 1000 signatures are required to qualify as a candidate.

A little surprising because he ran last year; but he may figure he can’t beat Booker. The move leaves the door open for a lesser known member of the NJ legislature.

Would actually be an interesting situation for any of the legislatures from either party that seek the Senate seat especially if that election is held in October and they could/would still be on the November ballot if they were running for reelection for their current position.

This is the honorable choice for Joe K. because he just stood for election in a primary where he was challenged.

who can win this abbreviated race for the GOP..and, since it isn’t likely she will give up a sure, 4 year re-election thing for a hell of a fight, I totally expect Booker (or, God forbid either of the two creepy, very leftist Congressmen) to win..we just don’t have anybody well-known, well-financed, or well- qualified enough, at this juncture, to get this done.. another chance gone!..so, better to concentrate on your locals and county!! – the Monmouth legis. and Gov. will win,here..
