Holt wants Lautenberg’s seat in the Senate

Congressman Rush Holt D-NJ12 told PolitickerNJ that he’s interested in becoming a U.S. Senator, but stopped short of announcing his 2014 candidacy for the 2014 Democratic nomination.

“There’s no point in being coy,” Holt said. “I’ve made no secret in previous  years that I would consider the Senate at the right time. But an expression of  interest should not be taken as a campaign announcement.”

Holt represented much of Monmouth County from 1999 through January of this year the congressional map resulting from the 2010 census took effect.

  2. Andrews said at 8:40 pm on February 14th, 2013:

Andrews would beat him in a primary, hands down.

From liberal to liberal- er ! Hey, wasn’t Andrews the one questioned about his possible personal use of campaign funds? Both seem weaker than a Booker,or even a Frankie P.. Whomever the weakest is, that’s the one I want..

  4. Barry said at 8:05 am on February 15th, 2013:

What is Holt going to use as his accomplishments other than he beat Watson on Jeopardy.

  5. Bob English said at 9:11 am on February 15th, 2013:

This could be a battle royal with so many current office holders who have won their seats in the Legislature (Sweeney, Oliver) or in Congress (Pallone, Holt) in multiple elections by wide margins considering running for the seat.

Unfortunately, it will be a coronation of King Booker. The media will be drooling and he will breeze through and no one on the R side of any legitimacy will challenge him. Its over now absent a Booker blow up on something else.

Any chance New Jersey’s Republican Party can recruit a conservative from out of state to run for the seat as well?

  8. brian said at 12:00 pm on February 15th, 2013:

New Jersey has a Republican Party????
    Since when????

  9. brian said at 12:02 pm on February 15th, 2013:

in all my years here, the choice has always been between Communists and Progressicans—–an actual Conservative might have a chance–and at least it would be a novel election……………

  10. Non Productive Brian Is Back said at 1:23 pm on February 15th, 2013:

Brian, why don’t you run for the seat since you feel that you are so above any of the potential Republican candidates?

That aside, maybe the Dems will commit fratricide in their primary.

………i wouldn’t want to upset jerry rivers aka geraldo

Brian is all talk, no action. He must have failed the Babs Tea Party Protege Test.

Have a nice weekend Brian. Try not to get too torqued out of shape. Seriously.

  13. brian said at 5:00 pm on February 15th, 2013:

    Have a shifty life progressican

  14. brian said at 5:05 pm on February 15th, 2013:

Hey progressican there’s this thing called the U.S. CONSTITUTION. Its a long weekend so take some time to read it and try real hard to understand it. There are cliff notes available for you as well
Then you might understand how far off the rails we are, but its complex so I doubt it.
Why hasn’t Mrs You-tube offered some of the $$$ millions for your precious non -infrastructure boardwalk? ??? Maybe its not important enough………

  15. The Problem With Conservatives Like Brian said at 9:18 pm on February 15th, 2013:

Is their all important litmus test. If you aren’t 110% Conservative, then the hell with you; you aren’t conservative at all.

Cow Pies Brian, Cow Pies. That’s as bad as a lib living in Camelot.

What you don’t understand is the theory of progressively advancing the conservative ball down the field while keeping your elected officials as far right as possible, ESPECIALLY in a blue state like NJ.

You’re theory is as bad as Karl Rove’s idea of culling out conservative candidates. You are acting like Communists with their little red book being waved in the air.

YES, there is the Constitution. But until enough people figure out, your my way or the highway attitude will kill our chances.

Remember the nursery rhyme about the Hare & The Turtle? Slow and steady Brian, slow and steady.

Culling out all RINOS in NJ with one fell swoop will give you a Democrat legislature because NJ leans Blue. There are just too many low information voters to get the conservative message all in one fell swoop.

So, I bet you would REALLY be torqued if you ended up with an all Democrat administration, wouldn’t you Brian?

Again, try to have a nice weekend, sit back and enjoy life instead of stroking out and insulting people who don’t agree with you. You’ll live longer 🙂

Too bad it will belong to Joseph Rudy Rullo, as will the presidency someday.
