I dont care what party he was from, he was an awesome Mayor that embodied what a true NYer was. He also would listen and valued opinions from anyone never discounting someones opinion due to party affiliation.

Koch was never afraid to speak his mind and do what was right, for example in 1980 he took on the Transit union during an unlawful strike and kicked butt. When was the last time a Dem went up against big labor?
