I was there this afternoon when these remarks were made. Much like the carnival barker that he is, Christie puts on a good show. That said, Christie is lying when he suggests that there hasn’t been a hint of scandal or an accusation of corruption involving his administration.
It is completely unethical for government officials to use their office for personal gain. It is wrong for government officials to accept lavish gifts from others, particularly from those seeking to influence the political process. It was both scandalous and corrupt for the governor to allow others to pay for the Christie family to vacation in Israel . What the governor did in accepting these free vacations for his family was no different than a corrupt politician accepting an envelope full of cash.

Why would you try to deflect attention away from Christie’s corrupt behavior by mentioning Corzine? Is Christie somehow less corrupt because someone else was also corrupt?
Someone remind me to cross SpeedKillsU off the list of people who think rationally.
Corruption and scandal not a hint? How about his former law partner and best friend running those half-way houses that the New York Times invested significant time and print doing special investigative reporting on
‘One pill makes you smaller and one pill makes you tall’, what drugs is The Christie using?
“Not in this for ourselves”: how can he ignore all of the patronage that he has provided for his political buddies at the Port Authority?
“Economic growth”: where is all of the work that he said was coming from the mid-West, after he took a trip there to persuade all of those companies to move to NJ? What economic growth can he point to for all of those still unemployed?
What “hard truths” has he told? Better yet what hard truths has he heard? Is no “economic growth” one of those “hard truths” that he can’t face? How about ‘hard fabrications’, or is it ‘easy fabrications’.
The Christie may be up for the Master of Mendacity Award, although he has very stiff competition from Mr. Mitt.
And, to repeat: “not a hint of corruption and scandal”, except when it comes to taking care of his former (present) law partner who is running the privately owned Education Centers for prisioners who are in transition out of the state prision system. Big payoff here, whether-or-not the prisioners go awol to see the world.
