Kyrillos Has Menendez’s Attention

U.S. Senator Robert Menendez reacted to State Senator Joe Kyrillos’ formal campaign announcement with a statement of his own, issued to Politickernj.

“New Jersey’s voters will have a very clear choice if Senator Kyrillos becomes the Republican nominee- Senator Bob Menendez who fights every day for middle class New Jersey families or long-time Trenton insider Joe Kyrillos- who sides with corporations and special interests over working families and seniors and panders to the most extreme elements of the Washington Republicans,” Menendez campaign strategist Brad Lawrence said in an emailed statement today.

Clearly, Menendez has read the polls and knows his job is at risk.  Recent polls indicate that Kyrillos has low name recognition outside of Monmouth County.  For an incumbent Senator to react like he did guarantees that Kyrillos’ announcement will get press conference.  Menendez, knowing he is vulnerable, has decided to try to define Kyrillos at the risk of increasing his name ID.

Menendez’s recent reversal on Magistrate Patty’s Shwartz’s nomination to the Third Circut Court of Appeals and his back peddling on the Internet Censorship Bill he is a sponsor of, are other indications that he knows his support is soft at best with New Jersey voters.

Menendez’s use of senatorial courtesy to block Shwartz’s nomination to the Appeals Court was met with fierce opposition in the legal community and speculation in the media that he was acting punitively because Shwartz’s boyfriend was the prosecutor who investigated him during his first campaign for Senate.  The senator latter reversed himself, saying that after a second interview Shwartz was satisfactory after all.

After the enormous outcry this week against the Protect IP  Internet censorship bill sponsored by Menendez in the Senate, lead by Wikipedia, Google, Craigslist and other major web sites, he tweeted, ”

Other co-sponsors of the Protect IP bill have also backpeddled including:
Marco Rubio (R-FL.), Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO) and Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT),

Kyrillos is a career politician who we can blame for the unemployment, foreclosures, corruption, and illegal immigration problem in NJ. He is definately part of the problem. I agree with others on the blogs this guy is bad news.

Menendez & Kyrillos both took contributions from operation bid rig Dwek. They should be running mates.

So, my fellow fed up taxpayers who are nameless, which of you are working to secure signatures and will put your own (maybe real) name on the ballot then?

Or should I ask, who wears SupermanUnderpants?!

Why is Kyrillos the front runner because he is friends with Christie and Ocean County boss George Gilmore? Why is it that the presidential primary candidates run in a primary, but Kyrillos gets picked by the political bosses? Why can’t the republicans let Anna Little run against Kyrillos then decide? The system is corrupted and not democratic because the people don’t get to choose.

Anna Little is a fraud. She has basically bankrupted the town she led (which oh by the way she LOST to Frank Pallone in 2010). When it came time to share services, Little voted with Democrats to protect the corrupt Highlands PBA by increasing payouts to police if another town like Middletown came in to cover. Anna Little deserves NO SUPPORT. She’s a fraud.

Get rid of Menandez – put in a Christie Republican like Kyrillos you will see positive things accomplished. Elect a Senator that can and will work and carry forward Christie’s message. It’s a win for NJ

  8. Go Anna said at 9:45 am on January 21st, 2012:

Atleast Anna didn’t take money from the informant fellon Dwek or sell out to the horse racing industry for George Gilmore. Check the records. Kyrillos is afraid to run on his own merit that is why it is fixed. Easy come and easy go they say, lol.

  9. Fraud said at 10:01 am on January 21st, 2012:

The only fraud is Kyrillos. Check out politickernj poll he is being beaten by Menendez 65% to 35%. WOW! We need a real republican not a puppet.

I haven’t noticed one media article about Anna Little’s run for Senate outside of her own self promotion of her website.

Anna Little couldn’t win the US Senate seat if the only town voting was Highlands. That’s how weak she really is as a candidate. Her record of failure is unparalleled.

  11. No Kyrillos...Please said at 12:32 pm on January 21st, 2012:

He voted against the public unions regarding collective bargaining. I think unions–public and private–will have a tough time voting for this man.

He also is a career politician–with his face in the trough. I think its time for a change.

    Has Menendez’s Attention….Seriously

  13. PoliticalJunkie said at 2:55 pm on January 21st, 2012:

@Ted…..first rule in politics, never give your opponent with little name recognition any attention. Kyrillos has a 8% name recognition state wide, Menendez a lot higher. I hate to say this, but Frank Pallone was smart not to mention Anna Little by name, because he knew she had little to zero name recognition outside of Monmouth County and he knew she did not have the financial resources to get her name out there. Kyrillos has maybe 1 million dollars in the bank, if that, compared to Menendez’s 10 million, who has the upper the hand? Menendez is worried, with the Governor’s popularity and the close relationship he has with Kyrillos, Joe could give him a run for his money.

it is the army of paid “consultants,” maybe 15-20 years ago, who began this incessant, expensive, and crappy practice, of splashing out the opponents’ names on mailpieces in a negative way, then forget to plainly say who they wanted the folks to vote FOR, often with the little disclaimer at the bottom the only way one could tell who the hell sent it..it’s so hackneyed as a tactic, I never read them any more!..as for ol’ Flatfoot, I mean Frankie, there’s a reason he’s beaten everyone for so long: same exact playbook, logo, colors, and liberal tripe, but, never refering to the opponent by name..need to get back to that on our side, pronto.. as for Menendez, read the same old crap and class wafare nonsense he’s already spewing, Obama does it every day, and it will be every Dems m.o… wish I believed anyone, Joe or Anna, or the Lord, would beat him here in Blue Jersey in ’12, but I don’t- it’s frankly, no pun intended,a waste of both of their efforts, am afraid..
