Monmouth Democrats Are Off To An Early Start In Freeholder Race

By Art Gallagher

Monmouth County Democrats are getting to work early in defending their only remaining Freeholder seat.

Last night at the Bella Vista Country Club in Marlboro, Democratic Freeholder Amy Mallet held a campaign kickoff/fundraiser hosted by Vin Gopal, co-owner of Communtiy Publications, and co-hosted by Marlboro Mayor Jon Hornick, County Chairman Vic Scudiery, and former Freeholder John D’Amico.  Middlesex County Senator Barbara Buono, a potential 2013 gubernatorial candidate, was the Special Guest Speaker.

Gopal announced that the event raised over $10,000.

Mallet and Republican Freeholder Lillian Burry are both up for reelection this fall.

Burry opened a facebook page on Tuesday and is hoping to have 50 fans by the end of the week.  As of 10:30 this morning she has 17 fans.  I think MMM readers can produce 100 fans for Burry by the end of the day today.  Click here and “Like Lillian“.

Rumor is that Scudiery didn’t show to his lone Democratic freeholder’s kickoff.

I love your sense of humor — “Burry opened a facebook page on Tuesday and is hoping to have 50 fans by the end of the week.”

will be another county GOP win, (granted smaller, since it’s an “off,” legislature-at-the-top,year”), but, everyone who pays any attention at all realizes that Mallet has been basically an uninspiring “spoiler,” who voted to fire the officers, and whose quite leftist views are just out of the mainstream of most of the residents.. and, the lady hasn’t gotten any better with her public speaking skills, either..unless she finds two fabulous, more “conserv” D’s for surrogate and freeholder to run with, I predict a sweep for the GOP, despite the fact the redistricting will be confusing us all, as to “who-runs-where” in the districts!..many folks struggling to stay employed and survive will just stay home, so, if we do a better GOTV, and the Dems keep big dollars up-north again, Mallet’s history..

If the current republican freeholders refuse to acknowledge the corruption emanating from the sheriffs office (newjerseywatchdog.org) –regarding the pension fraud– it may consume Madame Burry.

Don’t count Mallet out as you should not count Burry in.

My guess is Jeff Cantor will run on the democratic ticket–much like he did on the republican ticket several years ago.
